Just been clearing my loft out (why do we save so much crap?) and found a brand new energy monitor I got when I was with npower. I'm now with another supplier but I take it I can still use this monitor? I mean, it's not restricted so it just works with npower is it? Never used one before so it would be nice to see where money is being spent (mostly by me with my pc & nas!).

No restrictions at all on the nPower one I received from them just last month.
It just measures your current power usage and transmits this to a receiver and display unit wirelessly.
It is very useful. I keep mine next to the TV, so it can be easily monitored.
It has already saved me a good few quid from (a) when I see sky high consumption happening and realise I have left the oven / grill on when I did not mean to and (b) encouragement to use my work laptop more and personal desktop less, for anything that can be done on it.

Just checked my meter and there's a red and black cable coming out of it. Do I attach the sensor to the red cable? The paperwork for the monitor says there are usually 4 cables and it's the furthest right one you use but only the 2 here.
The must be four. Two going towards the elec company and two heading to your consumer unit (fuse box) otherwise you have magic cabling
You are correct use the red/red labelled cable going to the consumer unit.

Just had another look and 2 of them are joined together. Will put the sensor on the red one and see how much I'm spending.
