and get a flight there and then, on the day? Is there last-minute deals this way or is this an outdated method now?

I'm just wondering how lazy I can be about booking a holiday for Easter.

When i was last at the airport i saw booking counters so i would presume yes. However most flights are overbooked so its unlikely there will b spaces.

Going on how expensive Ryanair can be to book 2 weeks in advance I'd say you're probably looking at very very expensive flights :)

Actually when I had to be transferred to another flight before christmas due to snow the cost of a single ticket from bristol to dublin that day was £192. Luckily I didn't have to pay :)

Last minute flights used to be cheap years ago. But now theyre usually the same as if you booked a couple of weeks in advance. Or sometimes even more expensive.

But yes, you can get a last minute flight if you go to an airport.

These days to get cheapo flights it's best to book waaay in advance.

I'd really like to do this sometime. Pack a bag and just go anywhere for x amount of time.

This is what I'm planning on doing but not sure it is the best idea as I am going on my own, could end up somewhere pretty lonely. Even though I want to relax in the sun mainly.

Not sure if I should look for somewhere I can get a learn to scuba package or some activity as well... just to have some social interaction or something.

If I was doing it I'd probably treat the destination airport as a starting point for travelling about a bit.

one of the things more likely to get you pulled by UKBA on your return is buying a ticket last minute, paying in cash, and flying to amsterdam.

it appears to be a common method used by bodypackers to try and avoid detection
