I'm looking for a set of these for someone, as they're looking to get new tyres soon, and I mentioned how well these were looking to be shaping up in reviews.

But they need the smallest size (215/45/R17), and I've only found one place listing stock, and that's mytyres and they have a habit of charging a premium, since I've found the 225/45/R17 for up to £15-20 less than mytyres are charging for the 215.

So I thought I'd see if anyone here could help out.

Cheers :)

Call Blackcircles, they can probably give you a price

I found them much more professional than Camskill

Worth checking HiQ.

Not a fitter I have used before but I have booked them to fit a pair of them in 225/45/17 94Y on friday and they were the best price I could find.

HiQ are cheaper than mytyres even with fitting, but he knows a tyre fitter = mate's rates, so whoever can supply just the tyres for the cheapest will be the best.

It looks like it might have to be a laborious round of phone calls though, as either no one has them or no one updates their websites :p

Edit: @ Rypt, 225s would require arch rolling

Because that isn't the correct size for his car?

So? 225s have a wider section width which is a good thing.
The difference in overall diameter (and hence circumference) is very minor (1mph speedo difference)

There is no reason to stick to the EXACT tyre dimensions as those that come with the car, and in fact fiddling with section widths is often useful to cure some silly handling characteristics as engineered by car companies in the name of safety (for instance my MR2 understeering as a "safety" due to having front tyres that are just one step below what they should be)

Must be running it pretty slammed and with a nice offset then!

Good idea to ask your insurance company when changing tyre sizes as your moving away from the manufacturers recommendation. I phoned my insurance company to ask about replacing my runflats with non runflats (there was a debate on BMWland about it so I phoned to check) and they told there was no problem as long as the physical size of the tyre isn't changed if it is then it needs to be declared.

Assuming the arches are fine, 225s won't be too much of a problem if he can get a lower profile.

Lots of cars run different tyre sizes.

Maybe i am missing the point.

You aren't missing the point, Fox is just one of those silly people who will only ever run manufacturer approved tyres (in original size) and brakes

Or for that matter probably refuses to modify anything on his car as the manufacturer clearly made the perfect machine

You couldn't be more wrong.

Why post things you've no idea are true or not? You'll end up looking silly.

Your sarcasm detector malfunctioning?

Granted, given your "because it is wrong size" comment is not far off supporting my sarcastic view.

It didn't seen particularly sarcastic given the nature of your posts on here otherwise.

No ... I'm saying I was being sarcastic here:

Try to keep up there old chap

Is their stock region specific? I could only find the original Asymmetrics on there

The full range of Asymmetric 2s isn't out yet. It will be around 8 weeks for the full range to be out according to what I was told by Goodyear. I would think if anyone will have stock of these first it will be HiQonline.co.uk who are owned by Goodyear. They get their stock direct from Goodyear/Dunlop Tyrefort. I ordered mine from them only to get a phone call back saying although they are on the website they have no stock in my size.
