Bank teller implied I was a coke dealer

Architypal british unwillingness to cause a scene or complain right there ^.

Why is it that the brits are so reluctant to claim the service that they've paid for?

Complain by all means, but to go ott as suggested is just stupid.

As for claiming the service paid for... he was served, what he wanted was done. So what are you on about?

Well until you specify what you consider OTT and what you consider acceptable, your comment has no context. If you're referring to complaining to the manager, if you think this is OTT, then see my comment above about brits being unwilling to kick up a stink.

It's not whether or not it was done, it's the manner in which it was done. Think about things before coming back with 'what are you on about?'.

Honestly, it sounds more like he wanted to buy some than if he was checking if the money was legit.

It's a bit silly that people are suggesting that the guy was just fiddling around with the card when Lysander has said that he blatantly wasn't.

My comment has context by way of replying to the quote that is in the same post.
That's kinda obvious I would have thought.

So OP, how much cash did you have and how were you dressed?

Sounds to me he was speaking quietly so as other customers didn't overhear. If you were later found to be money laundering, the cashier could be prosecuted if he had a suspicion and didn't do anything about it.

Joking aside if this happened to me I would be a bit freaked out but would probably get over it after a few days or even the next day.

I think its just one of those things that you will remember and laugh at later on in life.

Oh get over yourself. It's hardly an issue worth noting tbh.

get over myself? i would personally find being treated as a customer this way very insulting and would definitely have complained and would certainly be withdrawing all but a fiver from the account. you obviously wouldn't, are we all supposed to be like you then? i'll go my own way, thanks.

Complaining is one thing, acting as I've you've been raped is something else. Why withdraw all but £5? What point is that making?

By the way, it was Santander! So if you were thinking of banking with them... don't. The service I have received from them over the years has been dreadful so yes, I should move on.

And no, it wasn't a large amount of cash at all. It was £200, which I should have mentioned in the OP. No excuse for that kind of questioning or attitude.

acting as i've been raped? how does one act who has been raped? you may think it would be fine to have someone at a bank mimic you taking drugs, i don't. they're there to look after my money, not pratt around and i'd seriously question their competence in looking after my money if they were doing such things.

It was only £200?! What a weird bloke behind the counter.

You're way too paranoid. It's the standardised method of cleaning bank cards in the UK. It ensures total cleanliness.

Oh, and I agree with the avoid Santander comment. I closed my account with them on Tuesday and even that was a ball ache. Never had a problem when it was Alliance & Leicester, then the Santander **** storm well and truly hit. Never had as poor a service for anything.

Perhaps you just look like a drug dealer he has scored off before. £200 is hardly an odd amount. I'm 19 and regularly take multiples of £100 out of accounts and deposit it...
