Intervening in a fight - would you

You let the little man earn his respect. Even if he gets a battering for it, they will look at him differently from then on.

I did this as a part-time living for twelve years. In a club is a bit different as they can easily injure those around them so getting involved is all about safety. On the street, I have intervened when I saw a young lad getting beaten up by two older guys as it smacked of bullying and there are few things I hate more than that. Typically, they ran off when the sides where evened up and I quickly found out they where trying to rob the lad of his ipod and wallet.

It definitely depends on the situation.

You sound like you have experience being the little guy :D

I always get involved in breaking up fights when it's someone I know - even vaguely.

get the camera phone out and record it then upload it to youtube for viewing pleasure. Its the done thing these days is it not? :o:rolleyes:

Have done in the past with varying degree's of sucess, few times ive managed to step in right before it gets to blows and other random people then follow and help, other times ive tried and it doesnt do jack, so you get out of the firing line as soon as you can and stand by taking account of whats happening incase its needed at a later date. Now i dont bother, its just too dangerous and i now know that and as i have a son i have a lot to live for these days.

I once stopped a bloke from pasting his Mrs outside my house a few years back, the bloke then went for me and while I was scuffling with him his Mrs smacked me in the back of the head with her high heeled shoe.

Walk away.

This sounds like my situation exactly.

Well I believe in doing the right thing... so if someone is being beaten up or attacked then yes I would try and stop it. I guess there's going to be a line or situation where I don't want to put myself at excessive risk and it might be more appropriate to phone the police or something.

The first thing I learnt when working the doors was to not get involved with this sort of situation lol. Such an odd one but never fails to end up that way :D

I remember telling my Brother the day after and he called me a dozy ****, never get involved with couples they will always turn on you.

I often think back and think I hope he pasted her for quite a while after that, stupid bitch.
