The new Orange Android phone (San Francisco) £99...but a Question??

I'm having issues with Clockwork mod

fastboot method

Unplug the USB cable, turn off your device and take out the battery
Replace the battery and turn the device on holding the 'volume up' key. The device will stay at the 'green android' screen.
Plug the device into the PC.
From a command prompt run 'fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-blade-2.5.1.8.img'
When this finishes, from the command prompt run 'fastboot reboot'

When I turn the phone on and hold the up button, it doesn't stay on the Android screen, the phone just boots up as normal.

Any advice?

Don't use 2518, it's out of date.

Follow this guide:
http://android.modaco.com/content/z...how-to-install-a-custom-rom-on-the-zte-blade/

Read it all then start from this point:

1. How to Install Clockwork using Recovery Manager

Thanks for the link pike, installed clockwork fine but I'm having issues installing the actual rom now.

When I come to step 22:

Highlight choose zip from sdcard and press the Home button.
Highlight the zip file you copied to your phone and press the Home button.

The rom doesn't appear in the list, I have copied it directly to the root of the phone but it isn't appearing.

Any ideas?

EDIT - NVM I was being a retard! Doing it again now. :)

Cheers

I guess you chose the wrong option in clockwork :)

It is, i've used jj9 then flb g10 or whatever it's called. Now on ss3 and love it, it's actually faster for me than all the others, and that's not because of the overclock.

Also it downloaded all of my apps one go, normally id have to do it manually so god knows why it did this, but it saved me a lot of hassle.

May install the ahb overclock, we'll see how this goes first.

I can't get spotify working for some reason, I DL it from the android store and it says download didn't complete properly.

Followed this instruction from the Spotify website

If you are having problems installing from the Android Market, you can try the following, in your Android phone:

Go to Settings > Applications
Check the box, Unknown sources.
Browse with your phone to
this page spotify.com/wp-content/uploads/android/0.3.20/SpotifyAndroid.apk and manually download the Spotify application and install it.

It does download, but when I open I get a message saying it's crashed.

Any ideas? Could it be the ROM I'm using?

Probably massively unhelpful but Spotify has worked on every ROM I've tried.

Currently running FLB r10, not really keen on Swedish Spring because of the extras like overclocked out of the box etc. Was hoping Flibblesan and Seb would continue their line of ROMs so we had something that was closer to a stock Android experience

Using the new Cyanogen nightly 32 (basically a beer RC3) and it's great for everyday use for me!

Had to apply a fix to cure the wifi from not sleeping when putting the phone into sleep, but now that that is fixed it's great!

Cool. I was using V28 I think for a few days but had a good few crashes, but really like it apart from that!
Also, LP is now cool with 2.3 so might go back to CM again when I get a moment.

Hey guys, some help appreciated.

Used to have an iphone 3gs - it lasted me one month before I got bored (contract was for 2 years). Keeping the o2 sim, I swapped to a HD2 (too big!), then eventually settled on a HTC Legend, after going through some more top-end models.

The Legend is nice and portable, slick, but I felt a little underpowered bearing in mind the screen size and the processor speed (600mhz - 800x480 screen). But it was something I was prepared to live with to conserve battery and also have a reasonably sized handset.

Nearly at the end of my o2 contract (just been caning it in my legend until now) - but the legend has been used as allsorts by my kids - Teething tool, its had a replaced digitiser and finally the mic stopped working a couple of weeks ago - can't use it as a phone so its a tad useless lol.

Looking at something cheap to get me through until August time - Bearing in mind my points above - would you class it as suitable? £100 is nothing for a smartphone (compared to the £500 I dropped for a HD2!)

I'm not a noob to flashing - having rooted and unbranded my legend on numerous occasions - but I REALLY like the HTC Sense interface - is that available for the SF?

thanks in advance peeps. Really need a working phone first and foremost so definately going to buy one today....

Yea LP is unbelievably smooth now.

checked modaco this morning and apparently RC4 is in the changelog, so it will be out very soon.

seems a full stable release is just around the corner!

Whilst CM7 may soon get a stable release, the blade variant still contains a large number of significant issues. As the blade version was a recent edition to the CM project, then it'll be a little while longer until we get a 'finished' version.

I haven't came across any significant issues that impede general everyday use.

the only one I have found is the lack of auto focus on the camera. but the camera ain't great anyway so it doesn't affect me.

even in the bug report page, there isn't anything of major concern that would render the build useless.
