Hey guys i have been trying to work out, i think my 6970 is slacking for some reason, im using CCC 11.2, i dont think a bottle neck is likely either, and its max overclocked in CC, i just seems to be getting beaten in benchies by lesser cards and i dont know why :(

argh **** XD i just ran heaven 2.5 and saved benchmark score wrong but this is what it was -

occlusion, refraction and the other one on, 1680x1050 4x anistropy and 4x AA got 1006 score and 39.9fps

really? i thought they could punch out more than that, for an almost £300 card :o

How does the card perform in games which is really what it was made for? A lot of benchmarks are designed to push the cards to there max hence why you see some lower fps scores. 3dmark 11 will give you even lower fps results. The 6970 is a very fast card for gaming and yours looks like its working ok judging from your heaven score so i would not worry about benchmarks to much.

Well it rapes and pillages everything else, ie black ops, crysis warhead etc, well crysis on max settings can make it splutter a little but it is intense, still around 50fps tho, only main problem is WoW its notorious for making cards sweat, i use it on ultra and my fps ranges between 30-250 XD

Score seems fine if not good for a stock 6970.

I got 1060 with mine at 1000/1375 clocks.

If you are comparing to nv cards like the 480 they score better at that benchmark.

What lesser cards were you comparing it to?

What temps are you reaching?

Have found out there are a few faulty batches of HIS HD6970s out there with insufficient TIM and loose heatsinks. Mine reach 100'C (Crossfire) and turn off my system. They BSOD too.

As with all electronics, performance and efficiency is reduced when temperature increases.

Dont forget an unlocked 6950 is a 6970 really :)

Try dropping your memory to 1375 and see if score improves....humour me :)

Cpu makes a difference remember.
