I like how the West is attacking Gaddafi's forces by pretending they are only protecting civillians while at the same time are taking the side of the "rebels" who are ARMED civillians! No double standards there then!

I'm afraid it's a case of heads the West wins, tails Gaddafi loses!

Resignation of Libyan foreign minister shows Gaddafi government is crumbling from within, says Foreign Secretary William Hague

As long the pro Gaddafi forces [including guns for hire] stay loyal with some form of coordination, will this really have as great an effect as [desperate] Hague claims?

It is probably one of the best scenarios for Gaddafi - by the end of this he will only be left with those 100% loyal to him. I'm sure he can eaily replace a "foreign minister". Hague, and the west as a whole, is getting pretty desparate now.

I think, after all his recent announcements that Hague can be ignored. It is the Russians and the Chinese views that will decide this if there is a further UN resolution or the US if they just ignore the UN.

Rebels " Allah Akbar "
Gaddafi Forces " Allah Akbar "

, yeh god is so great he's watching both sides calling his name while you kill each other. Muslims geesh

Also what's with the idiot reporters, in their jeep one says " I think we should get down and put our helmets on ". Yes ofcause that's going to save you from rocket fire, if we get hit by a rocket that's ok because we have helmets and getting down!

Lava! quick duck and cover!

Reports emerging last night that Obama has green lighted covertly helping/arming the rebels in order to overthrow Gaddafi

Not sure how legitimate this is. So do as much damage as you can covertly before publicly declaring it? Aren't there rumours that some special forces are already in there to help acquire targets? I fully retract my 'turning to a [potential] farce' statement. We have no idea.......stalemate and/or partition.

Fighting there own kind isn't restricted to the Muslim world, I'm sure plenty of Germans prayed to the Christian God before going into battle against the English and Americans who had just finished praying to the same God. The fact it is a civil war makes it somewhat inevitable so drop the small mided petty racism?

The reporters putting their helmets on and getting down might be no safer in the event of a direct rocket strike but will have just massively increased their chances of survivng a near miss so get off your high horse, combat soldiers have been wearing helmets and hitting the dirt for generations it saves lives.

It is not legitimate. UNSC reolutions 1970 and 1973 forbid ground forces. Partition is also out.

Stalemate, although Gaddafi's forces are using the same flat bed jeeps now according to the news this morning, so they will be difficult to hit and pilots will have difficulty deciding which side they are. Remember the jets are high up and flying at least 500+ mph.

Where as a drone on the other hand could follow them for a day and observe their actions then decide to prosecute or not.

So The Running Man is Nickg?

Alas I have been unmasked.

I did it for professional reasons I don't like how hr departments are Googling people etc and they might not agree with my sentiments. If you notice I haven't changed my sig or trust so as to confuse as few people as possible.

But lets not get away from the facts. Libya has some 21% unemployment.opportunity is limited joining the army will be the only paid option for some. They didnt join some fascist regime like the nazi party - they signed for the armed forces out of desperation for a job.

Yet the west thinks nothing of literally blowing these guys out of their tanks knowing that they are sitting ducks who can't move forward nor can they move back. It is literally the precision murder of Libyans who have no other option but to take it.

I don't think it's as simple as that. What's stopping them getting out of their tanks and defecting? They don't have to fight?

Why this is of any surprise is anyones guess.

Exactly, special forces would be there from day 1. I would have thought SAS and French special forces are there as well. The UN Resolution only forbids an occupying force, which presumably means forces there to assist or gain intelligence are exempt.

Although it does carry a high risk of a major balls up I would think. With the state of the rebels, it only takes one group of special forces to be caught by rebels who don't know about them and it will be the special envoy/SAS/helicopter incident all over again.
