Troll!

the problem is that the notion of trolling as a art has become so popular that people just exclaim any old retarded rambling to be a troll. 95% of the time it's not the case, people are just that stupid.

I know this is GD but I have noticed a significant increase in BS Troll like threads and posts in the last 6 months or so. Its becoming more and more common thanks to the likes of 4chan.

Don't get me wrong, some times it can be very well done in the right circumstances and can be funny. However, when everyone is trying to do it, it becomes boring, routine and tedious in my eyes 99% of the time.

I guess its because of the amount of attention, noteriety and infamy the posters receive for acting like nob heads.

Oh well, easy enough to spot so I'll just continue to ignore and not feed the best I can :)

It has. The word has been bandied around and used for everything. Such as disagreeing with the general consensus in a thread getting you a 4 day ban even though it's your first 'transgression' and a valid point.

It seems to just be a word that's replaced the usual curse words for not liking someone, or what they're saying.

"You're disagreeing with me, I am clearly right, so you must be a troll."

Since when did making a pointless post suddenly become trolling and thus a heinous crime?

Trolling isn't an art, its an science!

That's what I kinda condensed your post down to. Don't say more than is necessary, I have hatred for verbose text.

It does seem to sometimes be shorthand for "I don't agree with you" which isn't what it is supposed to mean at all. A perfectly cogent point is sometimes dismissed as trolling purely because it goes against what another person thinks.

It's a double troll.. the one that's calling the other a troll is, in fact, the troll. They are provoking them (at least trying to).

Has this become the latest forum fad? I'm seeing it being used more and more often in circumstances which don't really make that much sense. Surely to troll is to be intentionally provocative, but in a way that's generally frowned upon? Now it seems that trolling can also be a good thing, as if it has become a form of humour in itself?

This is an example that springs to mind:

Just, what? It's like the latter poster has gone out of his way to construe some scenario to announce that the OP is a troll :p

Anyone else noticed this? Or am I just trolling everyone with this thread? :p

I really like the ironic and intellegent use of humour Nitefly. :D

Verbosity is an art form, one which requires intellect, style and a certain verve, it may be much maligned but it is highly misunderstood. ;)
