restore it then take it back to apple (back up your SHSH blobs first - that way if apple refuse to replace it then at least you can put the old firmware back on it)
The cracks are a known fault and apple quite often just replace the handset even when out of warranty.
There is no guarantee, but just tell them it cracked during some form of normal use due to wear and tear and that you are very upset, and you might be surprised.

Yup - done that in the past and was 6 month out of warranty. I'd had it in an Icipio feather all its life and only noticed the crack when i took it out.
They were full of apologies and replaced it on the spot.
