Looking for something with the following spec if possible :-

i5-2410M

4GB RAM
500gb+ HD
15'ish inch screen, don't mind either 720 or 1080P
Dedicated GPU with Optimus or similar
Backlit keyboard would be a bonus!

Currently looking at the Dell XPS 15, spotted this one for about £750 after 10% discount and Quidco, N02X5M04 :-

2nd generation Intel® Core™ i5-2540M processor 2.60 GHz with Turbo Boost 2.0 up to 3.30 GHz

Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium, 64bit, English
4096MB (2x2GB) 1333MHz DDR3 Dual Channel
1GB NVIDIA® GeForce GT 525M Graphics Card
640GB (7,200rpm) Serial ATA Hard Drive
8x DVD+/-RW Optical Drive
6-cell 56Whr Lithium Ion battery
15.6 HD WLED TL (1366x768) 720p with 2.0 Mega Pixel Integrated Camera
3Yr Next Day Hardware Support

Anything better for around that price? Would really like another Asus, something like the N53SV specced like the Dell, but finding release dates appears to be impossible!

We don't get the good stuff in the UK. I would spec a Acer 3820TG (not second gen but with with HD6550 or 5650), but good luck finding one.

At this price point it will be hard to find a mobility / performance laptop, especially with 2nd Gen. The Dell is probably your best bet tbh.

the 3820TG-484G75Nks is available in Germany, but it comes with a German keyboard of course. You can also purchase a UK keyboard, and some have ghetto modded their 3820 keyboard with backlights. However I wouldn't recomend these options.

Probably won't interest you but importing from USA including shipping and import vat costs = £868.67 with todays exchange. Just quickly checked kobaltcomputers you can get the same spec laptop for £870.60 the only difference being the screen will be 1600x900 if you pay an extra £35 you'll get 1920x1080 so even with all those taxes/shipping costs the Americans get one hell of a deal comapred to us! (Kobalt GS150 15.6'' with two year collect and return)

Right, narrowed my search down to 3 or 4 laptops, but open to other suggestions too!

Dell XPS 15 N00X5M04 i5-2540m with upgraded 3yr warranty, 10% discount and Quidco, around £760.http://configure.euro.dell.com/dell...d=122756&acd=ba84dc38c50d5341947e565cc77b8324

Kobalt GS150 upgraded to i5-2410m, £799.

PC Specialist Enigma III 540 upgraded to i5-2410m, 4gb DDR3, 500gb 7200rpm HDD, Win7 HP 64bit, 3yr gold warranty, £775.

Asus N53SV with the i5-2410m if I can find one in stock, somewhere around £700.

All have good and bad points, I'm mostly drawn to the Kobalt for its matt screen, as I hate glossy screens, and the Asus, as I'm already using one and it's great!

Any advice much appreciated.
