£800 for 8 min work !

I used to work for a supermarket and the security guard was pretty much famous locally for being a double hard bar steward, built like a brick out house and a rugby player. He was the sole security guard at a large supermarket chain and a very big store. Many a time he was dealing with theiving ****s trying it on and he'd have to physically restrain people until police arrived.

Inside job was this one?

im most tesco store they are in security case's,when the games come into the store they are wrapped up so no one can get into the actual game (like most dvd-blu rays ect) and if the game needs to be returned and is still sealed they will get a refund.

all games are in security cases with the actual game inside, saves on space on the electrial desk.

im sure gordyr can confirm this and i also was a security guard in the southend stor for 5 years so i know how tesco operate in this matter.

i was the one who viewed the cctv and gave a copy to the police and they were just chancre's/semi professional thieves.

times are hard for many people and they will go to any length to raise some money.

it's hardly work;)

In 8 minutes I think it's probably pretty easy to nick something more valuable with less likelihood of being caught too, but for the most part petty thieves aren't great strategists!

I'm sorry to hear that...

Was he a store manager? Do you know which format? Superstores? Extra?

he was a store manager at Southend extra (store number 3177) and then went onto sd.

only just got to sd when he died.

How does someone walk out with a 50" Plasma?

Aren't they normally kept out the back? Plus IME the boxes are about 3 times the bulk of the TV so you can't exactly sling it under your arm?

There are tv's on display ;)

Ahhh that would be why... I'm on superstores format.... Generally only know the guys on my format with a couple of exceptions.

But... Actually I remember hearing about this now you've jogged my memory. All I knew was that an SD had dropped dead. Never knew the guy though.

Very sad! :(

Yep... Half the stores are in Essex and the other half in Hertfordshire on Group 23.

It's great, since I'm so close to the office I get to go on loads of trials. The office gave me 5 brand new mobiles (iPhone 4, Blackberries etc...) To trial as a new store manager device. I got to choose which one to keep etc and feedback to the office.

Yes... But those are just phones with Tesco email added. These are the new devices... Touchscreen... With complete access to live store KPI data. I get sales, shrinkage, waste info etc up to the minute straight on my phone. :)
