Sick to back teeth of my Samsung Galaxy S. Constantly putting phone down on people, crashing, unresponsive screen. My girlfriends phone is doing the exact same things as well. Had 2 phone calls this morning and couldn't answer either of them, as the screen wouldn't swipe and a text i can't read because it wont pick up my full pattern on the screen lock. I have had to turn the laptop on to go on facebook to message the people to let them know it is not me being ignorant but that it is my phone being a complete utter nob sack.

This is happening way to much now for both of us, so we need new phone's.So im thinking of resetting these 2 and selling them on and buying us both Iphone 4's? I know the Iphone 4's are not perfect but surely there better than these?

Any other recommendations?

Thanks

Personally think the samsung galaxy S is the best phone i have ever had by a country mile, i cant find a fault with the screens :/

Same here I've had zero problems with mine, Robboftw has had an sgs and currently has an ip4 he's impartial towards mobiles so his input would be welcomed I'm sure. Given the upcoming release of the 2.3 update it could be worth seeing if this resolves matters?

I personally prefer the iPhone to the Galaxy S for the usual Android vs iPhone reasons and that I think the hardware on the iPhone is slightly better, the screens are about tied depending on what you use the phone for mainly.

However, the problems you are having with your phone aren't normal. Factory reset it and it should clear any problems up unless it is actually faulty.

Each have strong points SGS with its super amoled is nice but is let down by the pixel count, text doesn't look as sharp as it should, Iphone 4 my personal opinion has the best screen due to its higher resolution everything looks crisp no phone comes close.

I wonder did you by any chance root your GS's and put the lag fix in ? as this is a common thing with them mine drove me mad until i got this working and the phone was super fast and responsive after that, I sometimes couldn't take calls on mine before as it lagged out.

I tend to take in to account what Robboftw says about them as he is pretty honest and gives good reviews, I get caught up with the phones and whatever I have at that time tends to be the best :p, few months time it probably be a dual core phone.

a bad app can cause this. Dont blame the SGS.

One bad app can cause the entire phone to freeze all the time can it? I've never experienced that, do you have an example?

You've never experienced it so it cant exist? There are loads on the market, poorly coded apps. I'm not going specifics but have you tried reading the app reviews before you put them on your phone? loads of people have problems. Apple have way less problems than android.
Actually one specific i put on my Sanfran the other day. Swapper.

You should no that an app can crash anything. It might even be some of the top apps like Angry Birds, Mail Client, Message Client e.t.c.

Yes, but that most commonly happens when you are using the app in question, they don't normally just crash the phone at random.

implied and mine was a rhetorical question.

I didn't imply anything, I just said I've never come across an app that has completely crashed the phone that I can remember, plenty have lagged or even frozen the phone, but it's always been recoverable without a reboot or pulling the battery.

idle apps are prone too.

even the OS is prone to problems. The very reason OEM's update their firmware.

My last several phones have all done it at some point. You must be really lucky.

Eh, I have both too and they have their good sides each, no phone is the ultimate. Your phone is either broken or an app is causing the phone to eat resources un-naturally though, the digitiser (touchpad) on the S is pretty much top of industry (10 digit simultaneous Amtel maxtouch) so it's unlikely to be this. As for "Constantly putting phone down on people" - this is nearly always the network not the phone. In android the phone service runs as an app that talks to the radio chip direct, unless you're closing the call with your face I'm going to say network related or because the phone is overheating/starved of resources as below.

What is an issue is your lockscreen not responding and the crashing. This points towards either the cpu is not clocking up to speed correctly or an app is taking all the resources starving the rest of the OS or other hardware fault. People give samsung a lot of crap for the UI on the SGS but it is extremely stable and very well tested, I'd recommend a factory reset to rule out human-related errors first to be honest.

If you want more help trying to work out the problem can you go into the phone app and type in "*#1234#" and type what you see here.

If you sell both and buy iphone 4's you'll probably be looking at a cost of a few hundred to do so. iphone5 will either be here for June or Sept, upto you if you think this is a good deal.

I know you work for Orange, how good is your information on this as there are a lot of various reports saying it won't be out until 2012.

I really can't see Apple waiting that long given the large batch of pretty awesome Android phones about to be released.

Need more info about what firmware you're running on the SGS. Sounds like it's borked. Since I loaded Froyo JPY and subsequent firmwares onto mine, the phone has been nothing but smooth bliss! Currently using Darky's 9.3, can recommend it if you have the balls to flash (no pun intended).

I've had plenty of apps that have required a reboot, in fact more on my Galaxy Tab than my Desire. Even yesterday I had to hard reboot after FPse became unresponsive and then slowed the tab down to a crawl despite the fact the app was no longer running.

Those that know anything within operators are under strict NDA. They certainly won't be posting thing in a public forum like here until Apple announce something.

Well, he's already mentioned it will be this year so I just expanded a bit on that.
