I want to get a roof rack for my Renault kangoo.
There seems to be 2 choices. The '2 bar' style or the slightly more expensive 'rack' system, like this:
I need it for carrying items longer then what I can fit in the back of the van. I'm thinking the rack would be better as i will be able to use more straps to secure.

depends if you mind them being open to the air or not.
Most people use the 2 bar style with a top box so you can keep the stuff out of the wind and rain (ie your clothes or tent when going camping for example)
if its stuff your happy to have exposed to the elements, then a rack style will be cheaper than 2 bars + roof box. Don't think i've ever seen 2 bars used on their own, they are always used with either a top box or cycle carrier usually.
