Hi all,

I was looking at these as a faster replacement for my current 8gb of OCZ Gold.

Would these work with my motherboard though?

The box says the mobo supports memory 2000+O.C.

Does this mean I'd have to overclock elements on the board to get the RAM to run properly? Would this shorten the boards lifespan/be difficult or otherwise annoying?

Many thanks,

What memory do you have no specificaly? you might be able to push that instead.
But yes, the support for 2000(oc) memory is via overclocking, but although running things slightly faster at more volts will reduce component life - nothing that you would notice, it would be like saying 9years instead of 10.

I have 2x2gb OCZ Gold model OCZ3G1333LV2G
and
2x2gb OCZ Gold model OCZ3G1333LVAM2G

I bought the 2nd two thinking they were identical but they have black rather than green PCB under the heat spreaders. They run identically though - no stability issues, identical timings and command rates, dual channel, all fine.

So I really don't know what the difference is?!?!

I think they are pretty generic though and I no ZIP about RAM overclocking and think it might be a bit advanced considering I haven't done a working CPU overclock yet. (Will be soon, upgrading case to Fractal R3 for better Airflow and might upgrade CPU cooler from Arctic Freezer 7)

Thanks Its Me... Those might be a bit steep for my budget though.

What do you mean by this:
but you can sacrifice back to 1333 if they will run very tight.?

Sorry that was rather vague :)

What i did mean to say;
Don't be worried dropping down to 1333 RAM if you can run tighter memory timings then at 1600+
The real world difference between 1333 and 1600 is negligible mostly anyway. But a tighter Cas is not (for AMD platforms)

I see, so it would only be worth changing up if I got memory with tighter timings. Not extra speed.

How come AMD platforms are so timing sensitive?

In percentage terms how much performance difference would I notice you think going from what I have now to 2x2gb 1600mhz CL8?
OCZ special ops for £35 sort of level?

I'm trying to tighten my timings to CL8 on the OCZ gold. Touch wood it is looking ok at the moment... although it is at 2T command rate...
