Urgent help required to finished off my build as I discovered to my horror that my trusted Zalman CNPS 9500 won't fit. I drove around like a mad taxi trying to find a 1155 socket adapter (ZM CS5A adapter) as I had ordered the wrong kit (ZM CS4A for socket 1136) from Overclockers. I Visited ******, PC World and even...Staples:D (out of desperation) in order to finish and test my new rig this weekend...Unfortunately I'll have to wait next saturday.
Now I would love to hear from you knowledgeable people on what you are using to cool your CPU...:(

Does the cooler fit socket 1156? as its the same as 1155, most coolers fit multiple sockets, so its a bit odd.

Do you not have the stock cooler, or you got a OEM version.

I assume the Zalman only has socket 775 fixings ?

I do have the stock intel cooler but I am not planing to use it... So I don't want to be installing it and taking it off again in a few days time....

Zalman has released an adapter to extend compatibility of the 9500 LED with newer sockets (1156 and 1155).

The new sandy bridge CPU's don't need such good cooling as older chips and when overclocking are less heat limited and more voltage limited. I'm running the stock cooler and can get 4.3Ghz. I couldn't sit there with a new PC and not build it whilst waiting on a better cooler!

I didn't have the appropriate fittings to put my CNPS9900LED onto my new P8P67Pro. I was a little annoyed as I think the cooler still looks great but hey, new owner loves it now. Ended up ordering a CNPS9900MAX for my new build and am happy again. Looks even better (black fins & red LED), cools within a degree or two of the best air coolers, quiet and causes no RAM issues like some large coolers. Not the cheapest, but if your case has a window then, dammit, looks ARE important! :)

Thanks folks for your snappy help. Much appreciated. I'll go along with the suggestion from the Caporegime aka Genius:D
I am ordering the Cooler Master...
Thanks again!
