The BMW M3 CSL Reborn

This thing isn't that. But people are hailing is as such.

How do you know what it is or isn't?

BMW has not put out any details on what the car's weight is or other specifics

We dont know the specifics, we dont know the weight, yet you appear to know enough about to to hail it as a marketing con and nothing like the original CSL?

Do you have inside info?

Or is 1.53 too heavy, or 1.54...

The line has to be somewhere, 100Kg more than the last lightweight M3 is the point where I'll defiantly dismiss it as a marketing con.

If it's 1400kg I'll eat humble pie and consider it better than the old CSL, but we both know that won't happen.

Surely, given that the current M3 is reknowned as being a fantastic car, the important figure is a similar percentage weight decrease over the current car?

Am I the only one who really likes the M3 saloon? Fast saloons pwn

IN general fast saloons >> Fast saloon-based coupes

Both are inferior to a fast wagon though :p

Out of interest why is there not a thread on the new M5 "concept" pictures yet?

That's fine if they market it as a lighter luxobarge rocketship.

There was, months ago.

Depends if you simply must have a BMW and this one is lighter and better than the other barge, or if you're looking for a sharp handling noisy thing, and are considering a BMW amongst other things.

One person will see this new thing and go "wow", the other will go "this isn't as easy a choice as when I baught my old CSL."

I doubt many people purchasing CSLs are looking for a "sharp handling noisy thing" and are ruling out cars based on kerb weight.

The reality is that cars have moved on a lot in 7 years and *have* gotten heavier. This CSL is likely heavier than the old, but that's to be expected. A MK.1 Ford Granada weighs less than an E46 M3 CSL. Which one is the barge?

Hey I like the blue paint job :P! Just the wheels that spoil it, imagine the wheels in white/silver and the car without tints. Would look nice :)

Paint it Avus Blue, then we'll talk ;) Best colour the E39 M5 came in IMO (This may have been slightly affected by the fact my dads was Avus Blue :p )

BMW have ruined what are otherwise incredibly mean looking lines in the E90 and E93 (Saloon and Cabrio) variants of the M3.

As an M3 owner i'm ashamed to look at that monstrosity. The silly paintwork coupled with 4 doors (why!?) is ghastly.

Barge? ha ha.

Avus blue ? Lies

Its WINNING. On the E39 at any rate, Avus can just about carry off the rapper-spec tints on that M3
