Best Smartphone to get on Orange

Im looking to upgrade from a HTC touch HD. what would be a good move

Do you need to upgrade now? Its honestly best to hold on until the end of this month as the phone situation will be a lot better.

If you need a phone now and it has to be directly from Orange, the 'best' smartphone they sell is probably the iPhone 4, followed by/tied with the HTC Desire HD, Samsung Omnia 7 and Samsung Galaxy S, depending entirely on your needs.

If you write down what you use your phone for mainly (like a list), I can assist you better.

Im not desperate to upgrade right away. not intrested in the iphone as they make you up your contract, to a specific iphone one.

mainly use phone for browsing the web, listen to music, ebook reader, some slight use of word and excel.

picture and video quality would be desirable, as the phone i have now is soo poor in that aspect.

Well, at the end of this month there should be some better options.

The best phone for web browsing on Orange currently is the Desire HD, and that has a decent enough camera and fairly good video quality.

Its certainly one of the best phone cameras by the looks of things, however it isn't out on Orange yet and when it is, the SGS2 may be about to be released which could match it in the camera department, and beat it at everything else.

my renewal is up now but there's nothing new on orange right now. There's so many good phones right around the corner though so like others have already said, just wait it out of you can.

If you really want one now the best Android currently out is the Nexus S, so long as the lack of HD recording and MicroSD slot isn't a big deal to you. Otherwise I would say the Desire HD although the battery life is pretty terrible, but hey interchangeable batteries. Unlike App-*ahem*

I think it's better to wait for Google phones tbh, you get much better support with updates and get a pure Android without any modifications.

Edit: Pretty sure the Nexus was available on Orange too.
