Samsung 226BW terrible flickering :(

Use the thread on here several of us have done this.http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18069187&highlight=caps

Open it up and check which caps need replacing first as not all models are the same and they have different caps.

I can recommend you the place I got my caps from off that auction site the guys 100% reliable and very fast posting even bungs in some solder.

Yep already posted there,no replies so far.

I have opened it and only 1 needed replacing which I did.

I would like a link for the caps, they are not easy to find.

Yeah,my 226bw has started to flicker when i first turn the pc on,or when it has been in hibernation, its fine once it warms up a bit but i have noticed it is flickering for longer periods now before finally warming up.
Might just take the hit and buy a new one, does anybody know if they rectified the problem in later Samsung models or do they still use crappy cheap caps.

my started doing when it worms up but very small flicker have it about 4 years now , but its other way its fine and i can only noticed it for 10 seconds if the background is white.

is the caps getting old or something ?

sorry for hijacking thread

I have a small update on my situation.

I plugged in my LCD TV with a HDMI to DVI cable and it works fine,at the same time the 226BW was flickering.

Another weird fact is that when my monitor is connected to the 1st DVI in the GPU,the lines are flickering from the start when I open my PC (it's even viable in the BIOS screen) and it's very constant and when the monitor is connected to the 2nd DVI in the GPU,it takes some time to show flickering lines (about 3-4 minutes),it's less constant and not viable in the BIOS screen.

What a mess.I am very confused.Any help will be greatly appreciated guys.

I have this monitor and its just started flickering on start up.

I suppose when it gets really bad i will buy new, was good monotor but an upgrade might be better for me.

@ OP - does sound like your GPU could be on it's way out, possibly RAM going faulty/overheating. Have you cleaned the dust off it lately?

@ Fob - yours sounds very like the bad caps issue, less than £5 and it's an easy fix. You'd be mad not to give it a go.

So you think it could be a faulty GPU?If it was faulty, shoudn't the LCD TV have the flickering lines too?

Well since you report changed behaviour with two inputs connected, it increases the likelyhood. You can sit and speculate all day long but the best way is to just beg/borrow/steal another GPU and try it out.

How can I check if RAM is causing problems?

I will swap monitors with a friend tomorrow and see what happens.Next thing to do will be to change the GPU.

Not really, but you could try a graphics stress test and see if it gets worse when testing.

I would suggest you remove the card, clean it well and reseat it. See if that helps. If not, try to borrow one from someone to test.

This is real easy to do with no soldering experience because it's just caps there's no tiny soldering to do.
