Hello All,

I am looking into booking a holiday to Tenerife in June for a week.
The area is Puerto De Cruz on the Island.
What I can not seem to find out is the transfer costs. As we are booking every thing our selves we normally get a local bus / coach from the airport to the resort.

On the web there are quotes of £50 each one way or £90 return from the airport to the Puerto De Cruz !
Surely this is not what the locals use and is there not a local bus that goes to Puerto Cruz !
The main reason I ask is I have never had a transport cost this high from an airport !

Many thanks :)

There are individual transfer companies at the airports, we used one the other week but unfortunately I cant remember the name of it! I think it was about a tenner each for the bus collect at hotel and drop off.

I looked at Puerto De Cruz last year but the transfers were very expensive. In the end I found a fantastic deal nearer to the airport in a resort called Costa Adeje. All upmarket and high end 4*+ hotels. I stayed at the Costa Adeje grand hotel and I thoroughly recommend it. The rooftop swimming pool was the highlight, we got a secluded sun lounger every day and there was no noise whatsoever. You'd also be close enough to Playas Americas if you wanted to venture there but fair enough away that you don't have to experience it if you don't want to :)

I flew back from visiting my father in Tenerife on friday and he lives in puerto. The bus service is excellent and you can get pretty much anywhere on the island by bus. I diddnt actually use the bus to transfer from the airport as my father picked me up but he has used it in the past and it costs around €20.

You do realise Puerto is the other end of the island from the airport right? About 90 mins-2 hours transfer time. It is much nicer than tourist town in the south however.

We stayed at Adeje, the resort was nice but the food wasnt that great. Hotel Villa Tagoro. If anyone goes to Adeje, theres a big shopping centre there that has a mexican restaurant in it which was fantastic, its like mexican tapas, but the mango daquires were the best drink ive tasted in my life and well worth visiting!

Yep, Puerto Cruz is a fair distance from the airport and yes I do realise it is not the normal tourist location.
That is one of the mani reasons we picked that area, as it much greener that end of the Island.
Plus the hotel has the roof top pool and the townhas a decent bus terminal so we can get around the area pretty well.

It is just the transfers that worry me as I can not seem to find a reasonable priced mode of transport from the airport to the town or Puerto de cruz !

As mentioned the Bono card is probably the cheapest way to travel around the island. Pretty sure they can be purchased at the airport on arrival. The Bus Station in Puerto is not currently in use, at least it wasnt last week when I was there. Busses still running as normal from what I can tell just picking up from various points around the town.

I am planning to hoilday in Tenerife in June for a week. So hopefully the bus terminal should be working / open by then.
I have looked at organised transfers provided by Travel Republic and Holiday on the beach.com.
Both are just to and from the airport and town od choice. At least the Bono card I can use while I am there as well.
I will e mail the hotel nearer the time and they should be able to let me know the local stop name, which will be a major help !
