whats the cheapest price you have bought a house for

Bought my first in 1984 for £11750 (a derelict) did it up, sold most of the Garden for that house in 2001 for £100,000.00 :) developer built 2 new houses on it.

Still own the house but it now brings in 700 a month in rent,... best investment ever !!!!.

£7000 a month rent? with no garden!

what the hell is it?

I bought a 2 bedroomed terraced house in Bootle, Liverpool in 1994 for £19,500. I put down £7000 deposit and so had a mortgage for £12,500 which cost me around £85 a month in re-payments. I lived there for 9 years and sold it for around £57,000 (could have got more but was priced to sell quick). I wish my mortgage for my current house was only £85 a month ;)

bought our first house in 2006 for £78,000 sold it for £120,000 in 2008, not bad for the particular area, it was a terrace house with no real front or back garden and zero parking, we did however make it very nice place to live in (did the work on a tight budget)

i have a before and after pic but just in case the owner is on here i might not post :)

used the cash to buy a £150k house and my mortgage was hovering about £115,000 will be less now, at moment we have done some mods so one day it might be worth more again but id think we would have to invest more to get ever decreasing return, we could have borrowed a lot more money but with the interest rate as it was a few years ago we were glad we played it safe.

imo it has reached a stage where there is no real chance for people of my generation (30`s something) and below to buy a properly decent sized house at a fair price near to where the jobs are even in many cases where there are no jobs the prices are ludicrous. The value of them wont go up too much more as peoples greed has squeezed all the relative value out of the property, but then again people wont sell their £400k home at £270-£300k as they based all plans on the home being their retirement nest egg.

its all about ISA and pension these days not just the home. you can have an equal return with wise investment.

There was a guy selling his house for 1 euro here last here (though, I think there were a few T and C's attached). What about that guy.. ohh... a few years ago that went from selling a paper clip on ebay to buying a house. (it was a house, wasn't it?)

i think it was a kid in the us who was swapping various item and the eventuanlly landed with a porcshe

My first house I paid 48,950 for sold eight years later for 120,000 this 2000-2008.

My mums first house in the 70's cost 500 they arenow worth 135,000 my nans bungalow was 2000 in in late 70's they sell for 300,000 nowadays

Do you think in 10years time people will look back and think

"Blimey, I can't believe people could buy a 2bedroomed flat for £110,000 - it seems to cheap"

Hopefully they will crash and return to a reasonable level in the next few years.

not gonna happen, too much of the UK's "wealth" is tied up in property now, no government, be it tory, labour, or liberal, will sit back & let a US/Irish/Spanish style house price crash kick in without trying to intervene in some shape or other.

£100 from my dad 15 yrs ago....long story behind it, and im not about to go into it but he owed me and my 2 brothers and mum big time for his massive screw ups...the house is now worth £400k...want to put it up on the market but theres a few things that i need to get sorted around the house, which im currently doing at the moment.

Bargain of the century but then i and my 2 brothers twisted my dads arm so bad that he really had no choice but to sell the house to me and my brothers.

Is that even legal? Massive sale under value, even 15 years ago.

He was ripped off or it was a mansion.

My Mum & Dad bought their first house in 1960 and it cost £200.
My first house cost £6000 in 1980 and the house I'm in now cost £14,500 in 1984.

What kind of house for £6,000?
