Iphone 4.3.1 Jailbreak Expected Today!!

I have just installed Fakeclockup. Its pretty awesome.

Cant believe its never been mentioned on here!

Just seen the video, that's pretty smart, I'm tempted to try JB'ing my old iPod touch in order to see how it all works...

I'm guessing I can't use 4.3.1 on an old iPod Touch 2G however? Or does JB'ing get around that limitation?

Ive never jailbroken before...

I dont want to lose all my data, and already have 4.3.1 installed on my device, so how do I go about using this jailbreak without restoring my device?

Cheers,

Backup then do what? Sorry Im a bit of a noob at jailbreaking.

Connect your phone to your pc or mac...fire up itunes....let it backup or click on back up when the phone is connected....once its done its backup then go the jb link in this thread...and follow the instructions given...once your jailbroken then re-connect your phone back to your computer...open up itunes and click on restore and that will restore your data back to the phone,.

Follow this
You won't go wrong
Then when uoir finished, subscribe to his channel, all the latest JB apps and stuff will be reviewed on his channel

You can't keep your jailbreak settings

I had to update (you can restore from backup if you want) -- i did something wrong I thing so it didn't restore from backup

Then just jailbreak. Cydia will be blank (unless you use a app like aptbackup) So your have to add your cydia sources again etc

Aptbackup - it's on cydia. Download it and open. Click backup. When you do a iTunes backup Aptbackup content also backs up.

Once jailbroken download aptbackup again and click restore. You're cydia should then show the sources and things you have downloaded. BUT it won't actually download them.

Sort of a dodgy topic,

Ahhh that kinda sucks as i had my homscreen set to a different theme and icon set....just means ill have re-do it again..if i can remember how to lol.

Cheers for the info oli...i did read about apt backup....think ill download it...back up my apps then jailbreak my phone again.

I didn't even bother, it took me 10 minutes to get everything back to normal on my iPad. Cydia was going really quick??

I still have to go and sync my applications back on mind you.

np :)

Just used AptBackup on mine but from what happened, I'm assuming it doesn't keep the settings for Cydia apps, just what ones you actually had installed before the restore.

Hmmm i cant seem to download aptbackup plus theres some sort of warning message about OS 4.3...anyhow im just going to back up my phone then update it to the newest OS then re jb it...i have a list of my jb'd apps, its not that many so will just manually re-download them again.

Umm yeh, it unfortuantly doesn't save settings.

But does same time from entering sources in again or whatever .

Thank god I don't have to update much

you guys should purchase pkgbackup from cydia well worth the money, backs up all cydia apps including repos and you can do a restore after youve upgraded the phone works like a charm

is there any cydia apps I should get? This is my first jailbreak so I dont know any.

Also, any decent themes? Id quite like a change from the standard set.

Well, my iPad upgraded fine. iPhone on the other hand is not :(
the standard 4.0.3 firmware is on the iPhone so I haven't even began the JB yet but iTunes won't recognise it anymore.
I did JB it before but it hadn't installed the firmware correctly so installed it using iTunes now it won't recognise.

Can I restore it to factory defaults without using iTunes?

Aha, seems like I may have stumbled upon something then. Its hardly much of an issue really (I dont often put my phone on silent) but little things do tend to bug me so I check everything!

have you also noticed the vibrate alert is much shorter now?

or am i dreaming it :p

I have it removed currently and I'm trying to find out why its doing it.

I will let you know if I discover anything.
