Hey everyone, almost finished redecorating my living room so thought I would throw up some pictures of the progress, it has been a bit slow as work has been hectic for ages but getting more free time now.

How it started.

Was a bit dated and had a textured ceiling with wooden window frames and a dated fireplace. I was on a budget so couldnt spend loads but wanted something nice.

So started to get the place stripped and try out some speaker placement

Then i got the walls and ceiling replastered after having a nightmare getting the old skirting off had to lift parts of the wood floorboards. Also built some boxes out of MDF and replaced all the skirting and door architrave

Some almost finished pictures

Should hopefully get time over the next week to paint the doors and get some pictures up and get plants and other stuff.

The setup

LG 50PK350 PLASMA running my PS3 and my HTPC quad core gaming machine with a 6850 so plays any game i throw at it at 1080p. It outputs to both my Dacmagic and my av receiver. Also have server upstrairs with 8tb of storage and gigabit network.

NAD c320bee takes input from both dacmagic and av receiver driving my Tannoy Fusion 4 fronts.

Marantz SR4500 takes input from my PS3 and HTPC running my Tannoy fusion centre and F1 rears and outputting to my Tannoy TS12 sub which is beisde the sofa hiding under a table.

Walls have been tracked for rear speakers with speaker terminals and banana plugs used all through, I have used some very good cloud9 carpet underlay and it is amazing.

I have also fitted blackout blinds and curtains, I can have this place in darkness even on a summers day.

PS. This is my first house and I am only 23 and first time doing DIY like this but I think I have done OK, only person I paid was the guy to plaster the place.

think it look better in the first pic;)

Looks great really, have you thought of getting a hd projector??

Cheers for the comments.

Thinking of either going for a 60" plasma and putting the 50" in the bedroom or adding a projector, not sure yet.

The shelves for the rear speakers I got from homebase for £10 each I think. The boxes under the tv I made myself from MDF which cost about £100 for wood and paint etc and the tables I got from ikea for £5 each.

Also all the door frames and skirting totaled about £10 and I have loads spare in the loft, I dont know what b&q were thinking selling it so cheap!

Good job :)

Will check homebase on the way home for those shelves, Ikea used to have a 60cm one but was never in stock when I tried to get one so still on a the look out for a small shelve for my rear speakers

How much did the MDF used cost? almost the same size that im thinking of doing and curious :)

Very nice job by the way, i love these type of threads :D

edit never mind just seen it in your previous post, ignore me :D

It's an improvment but only becuase the origional was so awful.

Beach speakers, Blac tables/units and white sofa's I have no idea where that colour scheme came from but just no.

Whole thing doesn't exactly say homely more batchelor pad, sorry to be so negative but you did put it out there.

Yeah I know, speakers I have had for a while and just sound so good but hoping to replace them in the next year when I find a good replacement. Sofas I got for free as my boss was getting new ones, they are very comfy and actually more of a grey colour.

As I said, I am almost finished but will take a while before its fully finished, at least I can now relax in it and it looks respectable.

But thats exactly what it is lol

I know nothing about plastering but does the corner of the walls in the last photo look a bit wonky to anyone else?

Nah, corners are perfect, guy I used is really good done a proper job, cant even see where I tracked the wall below the shelf. Just my crappy camera on my phone and my shaky hand!

Yeah place is still a bit dusty after all the work.
