Not sure if this is worth making a thread about, nothing came up in the search.

There are many fans to choose from. I have a Xigmatek Asgard case and may be crossfiring soon.

Since the case only comes with a front intake fan, I'm thinking I should get a rear exhaust fan and a side intake fan to go directly above the graphics cards.

I have come to ask what fan I should choose. I need 2 120mm fans and would simply like some recommendations. I'm not after anything absolutely silent but I would like them to be fairly cheap. ;)

Thanks.

Not the cheapest but the Akasa Apache fans have been higly rated lately. I had several delivered last week but yet to test.
If you check the different colour available some are cheaper.

Cheers, I'll check them out now. I'm not really bothered about the aesthetics of my tower. Never got why some people are. :P

the best cheap fans i can think of right now for under £10 are probably
fractal design
Akasa apache (brown/green colour)
Phobya g12
nanoxia Fx12

but if you change your mind on the price heres a list of really good fans for under £20

Scythe gentle typhoon
Akasa apache / viper
Noctua Vortex
Be quiet! silent wings usc

Is there really any worthy benefits to buying the more expensive ones over the cheaper ones? (I'm eye-ing the Akasa)

generally its just more airflow without the loudness but you can get some for more money that are worse than the cheaper ones.

if you dont care about the colour then the brown apache are well worth the money.

The only dilemma now to do with those pwm(?) power connections. I haven't had a chance to check since I made the thread, but will I be able to plug 2 of them into my motherboard? Is it a standard thing to have several of these connections on motherboards nowadays or something? Or something that varies usually?

+1 for the akasa apaches, they keep my CPU nice and cool (on an h50) and they're whisper quiet.

PWM is a method of speed control for fans, your motherboard is bound to have one PWM header at least (edit: likely marked 'CPU fan'), and you can run them (without speed control, just on full) from a normal 3 pin as well.

if you want both fans to vary in speed (really not needed for apaches, they're so quiet!) you could use one of these

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CB-031-AK&groupid=1929&catid=153&subcat=

it takes the speed signal from the PWM header, adds some power from a molex, and runs 2 (or 3) PWM fans from a single header, all at the same varied speed

How do the apaches compare to akasa ambers ? I have a couple of ambers and they are horribly loud even at 7v.
