Took me ages to save up £1000 for a PC build but now I'm having second thoughts.

Been miserbable for a while and feel it's time to start living and do something fun with my hard earned, a fun week in Amsterdam springs to mind :)

Any suggestions?

Yes. Don't talk about drugs in a good light on OcUK, a Don will not take kindly ;)

Besides, I'd only go if a lot of mates were going as well, else it isn't really worth it :)

I'd rather have the PC than a drink and drugs fuelled week in Amsterdam, but that's just me.

Maybe buy a cheaper PC and have a weekend in Amsterdam?

Yeah been itching to build a decent PC for ages but recently feel the need to blow of some steam before I go nuts. Amsterdam was just a off the top of my head idea really.

Yeah, couldnt you do both, a weekend in Amsterdam would set you back too much!

Failing that, head to a casino, 1000 on a colour of your choice, if you win...you get both...fail....well, at no more than you would have lost spending it all on drinks in amsterdam!

Whilst you couldn't do both, a weekend in amsterdam would not use the full grand. jus'sayin...

I was thinking of doing a trackday at a local race circuit or parachut ejump, would still leave me with a few quid towards a build.

Just wondering what people might suggest for letting off steam.

Why not a build and a day trip to France, or a weekend in england. There was a thread i cant remember which where someone posted some ace looking parts of scotland for example.

If you've saved for the PC, there is a chance you will regret after the fun times are over and its back to whatever your particular routine is. You can always modify your build so you can add to it later.

Yeah I fancy a decent spec PC partly because I got tired of the xbox. Since I wont have this sort of cash to blow for a long time again I should just go with a build. Thats the sensible thing to do but I dont feel like being sensible at the mo.

Move to amersterdam + build pc = win?

But seriously build a pc for around 980 pounds spend the last on 20 pounds of good vodka/whiskey drink it all in a night same effect as amsterdam :) minus the drugs, drugs are bad mkay!

I'd say dump the PC idea and go on some holidays with mates. Dumping my gaming PC was the single greatest thing I did. I used to complain about never doin anything before realising it's because I used to game a lot.

2 years on I've done so much with my life compared to when I was a gamer. I have a well paid job which I worked hard for studying instead of gaming, have a load of friends who I go away and do things such as kitesurfig and outdoor stuff with or even just heading out for food etc. I wouldn't have time for gaming anymore!

I also moved to NZ 8 months ago and the Kiwis arent a great gaming nation and much prefer the outdoors. Those saying spending money on going away on holiday is a waste of money confuse me. It's never a waste getting away and doing something new! I'd never have emigrated and would still be spending my weekends playing games.

Never thought I'd be the type of person 2 years ago to dump my job, emigrate to another country and take on water sports but I love it! I even have a lovely Kiwi GF now too who is amazing. There's so much to do in the world so get out there and see it!

You can game and do other stuff as well, its not one or the other :p.

I was more referring to the, wasting loads of money on alcohol and drugs part. Good at the time but regrettable later. May as well do it back in the UK as he wont remember much of a £1000 week long binge anyway.

Oh yeh cause weed is soo bad

Anyway a weekend in Amsterdam won't be more than 300 quid although i don't rate it try Prague or Berlin . I backpacked round europe for 3 weeks on £1500 :) so just buy a new rig for £700
