Hi All,

I used Ati cards since 9800xt, last nvidia i tried was horrible 5800.
I have XFX 5870 just now, but i want to upgrade, and i would like to try Nvidia,
any pointers?

I game at 1900 x 1200
SLI or Xfire does not rock my boat, only single card solutions.

Cheers

Hmm..

I find my 5870 perfectly acceptable for the time being.

Whats the reason to upgrade?

I would say the wise thing to do, is wait untill a future title you want to play is out, then by a gpu that has the performance your after.

From what you'v specified above a GTX 580 is your only solution.

That was my assessment as well, i just wanted to hear what others think.
I am getting new CPU, mobo, ram, so was thinking lets go with new g card as well

I am in same boat here, after upgrading to HD5870 I thought that for couple years I have settled down,.. running most of game on maximum,.. I found that couple games would have advantage with better card: crysis/ crysis2/ shogun 2/ AC: brotherhood...

Now I am very tempted to buy Gigabyte GTX480 SPECIAL EDITION for £200...mhhh....

A flashable 6950 would see benefit in some games, but tbh what you have is still a very good card. I'd only upgrade now if there are games you can't play at high settings that are already out. Personally I'd wait until late summer for a slew of new games on the horizon to see what they're gonna need, plus some new hardware out in Q3 ish.

EDIT: the best info there is currrently on new AMD cards appears to be codename Southern Islands, 28nm, due late 2011. No further info but I'd be surprised if they were too deep into Q4.

Cheers guys, i will see how 5870 behaves with my new i5 setup.
I guess i have not seen best from it yet with my C2D 8400 (oc to 3.8)

I will see what Il 2 Sturmovik Cliffs of Dover actually needs after they have patched the game a bit as at the moment even the highest spec setups are struggling big time with it.
