Ive been wearing contact lenses since I was 15 - and have always bought them from the same independent opticians in a village nearby to where I live.

Thing is I wont be able to get them as easy now, as I am down Plymouth most of the time. So need to start going to an optician that is nationwide - such as Specsavers, Boots, Asda, etc. Question is, who is the best and cheapest?

Cheers!

am with specsavers on the monthly pair been with them solid for 10 years in August and i have never had a problem with them, the odd pair that have torn on me i have had a new set in the mail in 2 days, paying £15 a month

Okay, so its much of a muchness then isnt it - not major amounts between them.

If I had an appointment in Leicester with say specsavers, then I would be able to go to a Plymouth specsavers and they would have all my records on their computer wouldnt they? Thats the idea anyways.

Just get them online...?

Unless you have astigmatism like me, in which case it's not much cheaper online than just going to Boots.

yes they can transfer the records as i was with an small company before i switched to specsavers in Harrogate

yes getting them online is an option but you need a contact lens check up every 6 months unless your eyesight hasnt changed in a few years

You should have a checkup regardless of your eyesight changing with contacts because of the risk to the health of your eyes.

So if you're buying online you need to factor in the cost of getting your eyes checked out a couple of times a year.

I use boots, get my lenses delivered every 3 months, pay monthly, get 2 aftercare appts, and a sight test a year, also get free replacements and discounts off specs.

I might be able to make it cheaper buying online and paying for checkups but I'm happy with the service I receive for the money I pay.

One thing to note for boots, in my experience at least, is that if you move branches, their moving process is terrible. It may have improved as the last time I had to do it was 3 years ago now.
