Which format would you say is best to play Fallout 3 and Mass Effect 2 on 360/PS3 or PC? I know graphics wise the PC will destroy the console versions but not all game are best played sat in front of a PC. With the exception of serious online FPS and RTS I often find games are better played sat back relaxed in a arm chair. Are Fallout and Mass Effect the sort of games which are better played on a console?

Fallout 3 definately PC just for all the modding you can do, plays fine with an xbox controller as well so you can put your feet up while you play.

Not sure about Mass Effect 2, but the first Mass Effect game is better on PC, they've improved a few things about the interface and menus and the game just seems to play better with a mouse + kb.

I prefer Fallout on the PC because the consoles take forever to load areas and have really bad frame rates in places. The PC version has it's bugs, but overall I found it more enjoyable on PC.

Can't comment on Mass Effect because I only played the second one on PS3.

With Fallout 3, there's pros and cons for playing it on the PC. While all the mods are absolutely fabulous, I found it to be very unstable at times, certainly compared to the Xbox version which only crashed once for me. I've lost count of the number of times F3 has crashed on my PC and laptop.

Can't comment on Mass Effect though, only played it on the Xbox.

For me Fallout 3 (and New Vegas) are perfect console games. You can just sit back and wonder round from the comfort of your sofa, and with VATS, even the fighting is relaxed.

Relaxed? You've never been chased by an angry pack of Cazadors have you? :p

Personal preference, I actually played Fallout 3 on both, I enjoyed the PS3 version because of the large LCD and playing on the sofa in the living room and I enjoyed it on the PC due to better graphics and modding (until it became unstable and crashed a lot)

Fallout 3 on PC for me load times are less that a tenth of what they are on console (even when installed to HDD) the graphics are way better to with some amazing view distances. the crashes are pretty much non existent now with the latest patches, I played it a couple of months back and didn't experience a single crash,

I preferred mass effect on the 360 though, sure load times were horrendous and the frame rate was terrible but it just felt better for some reason

What about if you install the game on the consoles hd? Does it still take forever to load?

It still takes a while to load even when stored to the HDD and if you're on the PS3 then you don't even get the option to install it to disk. I thought Mass Effect 2 was pretty good from what I played of it though if I'm honest I didn't own it for long as that's when I sold my PS3. I'll probably re-buy it on Xbox when I'm bored of the games I have now. :)

I found the PC controls for Mass Effect 2 very finicky, mainly when trying to change weaponry. Off the top of my head, I can't even remember if you can pause the PC version to issue commands or not.

Played both on xbox360,I can imagine that they would both be better played on pc if you have a half decent graphics card.still I thought they were great games on the xbox especially mass effect 2 which had the greatest graphics i have ever seen on console.

Sure you can, it's pretty similar to ME1 but they changed the key mapping. I'd play both on PC for the visuals and better control when aiming.

Fallout is much nicer on PC due to mods, some very good stuff out for it.

Mass Effect 2 is basically identical aside from graphics and loading times. The loading times on PC are non existant compared to 360 and PS3. (PS3 has terrible loading times)

The first Mass Effect is awful though, framerate issues are rampant on 360! I've still managed to finish it 3 times on it. :p

You can max out Fallout 3 and Mass Effect 2 on a graphics card that sells for about £40 at most second hand now! (8800GT)

To be honest £40 is probably way more than they go for at this point.

I don't think you can really blame the PC version of the game for that, I on the other hand had no problems with crashes on Fallout 3, New Vegas is another story though, but the consoles also crashed a lot on that, most of it has been ironed out now on PC at least.

Mass Effect 2 on Xbox was great for me. I don't mind the loading times as they are not that bad. But I haven't played it on the PC/PS3 so obviously can't give a real answer :)

Fallout is best on PC no doubt. Not only because of mods but also because it's prone to crash every ******* 5 minutes on the Xbox/PS3.
