Hey guys, I've got a 480 SE OCd to 860/1720/4100 @ 1.1125v. Temps are fine, rarely getting over 75c in games with fan speed around 65%. Furmark runs fine (no artifacts etc) but bumps my temps up to ~80c with fan speed on 90%+, a little hot but still acceptable. Heaven runs fine with temps never higher than 80c and fan speed stays pretty low. In fact, to test the OC I left heaven looping overnight and it was fine, no crashes and no artefacts that I could see.

However, it's a totally different story in OCCT. Temps are similar to Furmark but I get artefacts all over the place and 500+ errors in the first 2 minutes. If all the other programs are rock solid why is OCCT so unstable? In order to get OCCT error free I had to drop my clocks down to 820. This is still kick ass fast but significantly lower than 860.

Games seem stable, although I haven't had the chance to do any long sessions with this OC yet. What do you think? Think I need to downclock? Or is OCCT an anomaly?

No, OCCT is correct, the other tests just aren't picking up on the errors your card is producing.

Personally I like my cards 100% stable (so would run 820), rather than almost stable (860).

TBH 40MHz isn't going to make a massive difference to your FPS.

Thanks, time to downclock methinks.

I wouldn't even use OCCT. That puts a massive amount of stress on your gpu that wouldn't be replicated in real world scenarios. I prefer to leave furmark on for 30 mins, do 99 loops of Crysis and then play a few games to see if it crashes.
