ok so say you and 3 of your mates wanted to drive around europe in a 1k behemoth what would you suggest to do it in ? thats;

a) reliable
b) good MPG
c) fairly good size for room to sit in for long periods etc .....

this is all hypothetical etc but its something where considering .....so please something serious :)

Think 1k is too much for a disposable car. We managed it in a £250 car - E36 318. Just keep an eye out locally for something cheap...ebay, gumtree etc

Probably hard to find one around 1K thats in any kinda shape but something like the Volkswagen Sharan 1.9 TDI S or 110 - can't see any under 2 grand off hand tho (but the Ford Galaxy equivalent seems to crop up around 1.2k quite a lot).

£1k?

A months hire car from Hertz.

A new comfortable, economical and reliable car with breakdown cover included? Where's the adventure in that? :D

I guess there will be a mileage limit though?

As much as I like the idea of bunging around in a car that you have bought and can smash around.

This is the most sensible idea.

Wheres the fun in getting stranded in the back of beyond and getting eaten by wolves :D

Rent a car he's right, it will be unlimited mileage.

Depends if you wanna sell it when you get back and make back some money?

If not, and you will just take the £1k hit, hire car.

Maybe they're doing one of those rallies? Lad at work did one in an old volvo, they seem to be the weapon of choice for a few people on these rallies
