UK student joins rebel forces in Libya, to be honest with you.

Fair play to him tbh....

He's British/Libyan and wants to go and play his part. The fact that he's massively inexperienced is irrelevant - a large portion of the rebels are and yet they're still making an impact.

Quite frankly I can't stand it when news footage of 'Asylum seekers' fleeing various hotspots shows men of fighting age - tis rather refreshing to see someone going the other way off his own back and standing up for what he believes in.

He just doesn't strike me as someone who should be fighting and risking his life, he doesn't seem angry or tough enough.

Neither did perhaps the majority of people who fought in WW1 and WW2 - they still played their part when it came down to it regardless of the fact they were mostly volunteers or conscripts.

Well personally, I don't think he'll accomplish anything except that he'll get himself killed.

AFAIK Not unless the rebels are deemed to be a terrorist organisation - which is unlikely as the way things are going they're *hopefully* going to form part of the next govt over there. FWIW the KLA openly recruited in the UK when it started kicking off in Kosovo.

Aha, I can just imagine him running into the front line with that shirt and those shades firing away like a total boss.
