I never read the other thread, but when it comes to graphics cards read this CLICK ME - Graphics Card Warranty's - Let's see how good they really are *Look*

It gives a good indication of what to expect when you return your graphics card for repair/replacement after 28 days of purchase, regardless of where you bought the graphics card, it's more than likely get sent back to the manufacturer.

Does my XFX details read incorrect . . . . . ?

I don't like giving false info based on previous comments made on these very same forums - CLICK ME - Gibbo's post.

If in any doubt people, just stick to these manufacturers - at least you know when it's sent to the manufacturer, you know it's going to be returned to you a lot quicker!

Gigabyte - UK RMA Base - 3 Year Warranty. (Around 2 working days to sort out.)

KFA2 - UK RMA Base - 2 Year Warranty (Galaxy's Euro Brand - RMA Base used to be BFG's)

PNY - France RMA Base - 3 Year Warranty (Around 3 Working Days)

Zotac - UK Phone Number - 5 Year Warranty registered with Zotac, otherwise 2 year Warranty. (Not sure how long RMA takes.)

EVGA - Germany RMA Base - 10 Year Warranty Only on some models (SC and F.T.W), other models 2 year Warranty (Around 2 weeks - possible graphics upgrade)

MSI - Netherlands RMA Base - 2 Year Warranty (Read forum threads - around 10 to 14 days RMA.)

Will be sending my card off to Gigabyte tomorrow so will let you know how that goes

Sid, ask them how much it would cost you for 2 6950's and unlock them.
2 6950>70's use about the same power as 1 480, also better scaling than 480 sli.
It would also be faster than a 6990.

Fair point, well made. If you search for info on graphics cards on google, this forum regularly comes up in the top few searches, and when one of these threads pops up, it not great for business.

I think negative experiences will be talked about more than positive ones

People are always quick to complain, certainly in a situation like this, but rarely praise (not a problem isolated to OcUK). Have always found the OcUK RMA process quick and smooth, not had a problem with it though.

The 5970 was a good card though - mine is still going strong since I bought it at release.

+1

And op..

TAKE THE CARD.. Your 5970 went wrong and you wanted a replacement. They are replacing like for like now which I thought what all the fuss was about.. Dont barter etc etc.. If you dont want a 5970 Take the refund and buy something else... OCUK have come back with exactly what they should have done... Well done, nice to see a good outcome.

Had several RMAs with OcUK and most was smooth. However for faults intermittently occurring there isn't really a good way to deal with it.

I used to have bought an ASUS P6TD Deluxe X58 motherboard from OcUK. According to the nature of the unstability/flawed design of the mobo, it doesn't recognise all 3 memory slots sometimes. (See complains on ASUS official forum and compare the number with other models/brands.) However when I sent it back to OcUK, they simply said they didn't find it faulty so they charged me £20 to send it back to me. Sadly the problem still persisted. My solution was to spend another £300 to get an EVGA E760 (for their reputation of customer service) and the problem was finally resolved. I gave the ASUS P6TD Deluxe for free to someone else who doesn't care about the problem.

This time I have bought a pair of MSI 6950 Twin Frozr II from OcUK. I was very happy with them until one fan on one card started to fail intermittently after DSR period, making more noise. I worry that OcUK might not stock more Twin Frozr II version of the card because they might start selling Twin Frozr III version soon, so I decided to order a new one while RMA'ing the old one for refund, which was agreed by their customer service. I do worry that they'll reject the refund as the noise of the fan is not easy to reproduce, because not even myself can guarantee to reproduce the fault every time.

Let's see how OcUK would sort this out.

Update: OcUK has accepted that the returned card is faulty despite the fact that it is difficult to discover the noise. Smooth RMA and thanks again
