Will OCUK be getting these in? Considering you're a 'premier MSI partner' or something. Or would the price be a little too 'in-competition' with the 6970s?

I think they'll start selling these TF3 as soon as they clear all TF2.

TF3 would come with dual-bios flashable to 6970.

However my personal favourite is still TF2 as it is probably the quietest 2-slot 6950 in the market. Noise is of my primary concern and I'd not trade quietness for 10% framerates.

Well, I hope they bring them in soon, as I'd buy one. Mainly because of the excellent VRMs and custom board, plus the BIOS flash ability. Brilliant bang-for-buck overclocking - yes please!

TF3 also has an extra heatpipe so should be slightly better cooling :)

TF2 is still a great cooler though, its still overkill enouigh on the 6950, and by far the best cooler used on the GTX 560 + 460 cards.

I heard that the one used on the 5850 had a lot of fan issues though.

Nope. Both TF2 and TF3 have 5 heatpipes each. The problem with TF3 is a higher default voltage, with a more noisy default fan profile. If you don't trust my comparison about noise, you could check reviews from techpowerup, or check the numbers from MSI official site.

I'd be ripping the cooler off anyway and fitting a core-only waterblock. The beefiness of the card is what interests me.

As usual, as soon as we have a firm ETA Gibbo will be offered these before anyone else, it's up to him if he wants them or not :p

you can find more info on the cooler here

To be honest Marvin I think the original Reference 1 card are pretty good too for watercooling as they share the same components as the 6970 and more importantly the high-end Volterra VRMs.

Of course its only a 4+1 phase design though whilst the Twin Frozr III is 6+2.

But it lacks the BIOS switch! And, frankly I'm not risking my limited budget for a BIOS flash...

So what's the big changes with the new version of this card then? I've got the TwinFrozr II 6950 and surely they can't have made that many improvements to it. I mean it's already really powerful, quiet and has a really good cooler.

Sorry, I read Ezyryder's comment as the Twin FrozR II card, rather than a reference card...

The problem with the reference cards is that I can't nick the RAM-plate to use with a core-only block, while I can with the TF cards.

Any update on when these will come in? I ordered one assuming it would come into stock on Friday 6/5/11 as mentioned on the site, now its 'overdue' :(.
