Don't worry, this is not some military-esque circuit training programme that I'm about to prescribe, I was just wondering how fit some of us on here are. Has anyone ran a particularly speedy distance run?

Anyone regularly run marathons, or ultra-marathons? Triathlons? Ironman? Anyone compete in athletics at a reasonable standard? Audax/race cyclists?

We've got some strong guys on here, would be interesting to see who is impressive in the fitness realm. Maybe we could even compile a bit of a database of running/cycling/events times (1 mile, 5k, 10k, etc).

Fire away, budding Lance Armstrongs.

I'm the most fit! *this could be not true.

I couldn't catch the ice-cream van on a hot day :(

Clipsey has done Ironman.

I'm nowhere near being fit, nevermind the fittest on here though :( - I am getting there though, gym 3 times a week, badminton and regular Mountain bike sessions should see me right, not to mention the god awful improved diet malarky!

I'll battle for this "title" in a couple of years maybe? :P

I misread the title at first, I thought it said "Who's the fattest on OcUK SA?". I would have been in with a shout of winning that coveted title.

I'm strong for my size, but I'm not what is considered 'fit', although I am healthy.

I'm assuming your definition of 'fit' is the ability to perform cardiovascular exercise well?

Fitness is to do with recovery and the speed of return to resting heart rate is it not?

You might very well be fit, but just not conditioned to run a marathon or complete an ironman so it's all relative. I think lengthy bouts of CV exercise is what the OP is aiming at.

A few people I know say I'm unfit because all I do is lift weights which I guess is fair compared to someone who does a lot of CV work.

Doubtful.

If you do CV and conditioning work periodically then you are not unfit. Just not as fit as someone who runs a lot. Likewise from a powerlifters perspective someone who does triatholon in regards to weight lifting is going to be considered unfit because they can't squat double bodyweight.

Generally speaking 'fitness' tends to relate to CV health. Though the capcity to run for an hour isn't required to be 'fit'. I much prefer to do short sprints and interval work. My recovery is still good but does this make me unfit because I'm not good at running for an hour which isn't something I enjoy or have a desire to do?

Generally who would be in better shape, a natural body builder or a runner?

i do 14 miles a day cycling minus weekends. i have a 6 pack... do i win?
;)
hahaha

I do 34 miles a day cycling plus swimming 1,5km three times a weeks and a spin class. I also run (10-13miles) on a saturday and do about 40km on the bike on a Sunday (rising to about 150km from the 17 of this month onwards.

I don't have a six pack because I eat lots of chocolate and pies.

Almost the same, other than the chocolate :p.

Used to be very fit when I was ~15. Football every day at school, training then a game on sunday, run 3-4 miles every day. Not any more!

I'm looking to get back into running (well, sprinting) now I've got some room in my schedule. Step 1: don't get injured.

I'm not fit, I was. But I started climbing lots and stopped running and cycling and the fat belly came back. But I was back on the road bike today so add that to climb and I'll be lean and mean once again.
