Well i am on another first date but thinking of going manchester as we both live close so was just wondering if there was anything good to do other than the usual go cinema, drinks and shopping.

Anyone done anything that might be considered good for a first date or is there anything going on this saturday in manchester like a carnival etc?

Go karting. There is a Daytona near the Trafford Centre.

I went playing pool for my first date with my current girlfriend, then on to have a drink. Allowed us to get to know each other really quickly.

Wow so my choices are Go Karting (which i imagine is exspensive and i cant see her really wanting to do this) or attending a protest as Anonymous. Decisions decisions :D

She is into ancient art so is there a museum for that around?

There are a few museums in Manchester. Also there is a Tutekamun (dunno how to spell) exhibition going on near Trafford centre - loads of ancients art there. I went, it's pretty good. Audio guides are loooong though.

Also maybe Chillfactore, indoor skiing??

In fairness if you're looking for ancient art, then the Manchester Museum is probably a good place to start.

It's not the best in the country, but has some good collections and is a cool building to wander round. Might want to avoid the taxidermy section though if she's a bit squeamish (although there are some interesting species in there).

The section with Egyptian mummies and open caskets is interesting, if a little gruesome.

EDIT: Link if it's of any help: http://www.museum.manchester.ac.uk/

She might end up being surprised and really enjoy the go-karting. It also gives you something to talk about. I know my girlfriend loved it when she really didn't expect to and wants to go again. She is also quite a girly girl, so ner :p

Pool would be a safer option mind you.

Manchester Museum, Whitworth Art Gallery and Manchester Art Gallery all worth a punt (and free).

There's also some more interesting eateries you could go to

Thx for the replies guys, i have just spoke to hear and its going to be during the day as she is at work in the evening.

The Manchester Mueseum might be the best bet then, hope she hasnt been like a zillion times before :D

[ASSE]Hinchy: I know your really trying to sell the go karting idea, and i love go karting myself, but i just dont want to risk it on a first date! i mean knowing my luck she would crash out and be incapacitated for the rest of the day or worse (and no this isnt a good thing you pervs :D )

What interesting places are there to eat at Abraham?

yeah it is, it had changed to Gengis Khan's for a bit, think it's now back to being Mongolian BBQ though, always been the same staff/food though.

it's indian, but I just find it a really nice experience eating there, and the food is ace.
