I got one yesterday,

I play COD4 on my older samsung @ 59Hz and switching to 120Hz is so epic and smooth. I really can tell the difference between the two refresh rates and has improved my gaming experience for sure!

Understandable - what is your budget and is it mainly for gaming? What kind of frame rate do you average on your favourite titles?

would you recommend getting one of these 120Hz monitors over an IPS monitor? im stuck between the two :(

Same situation as me,i just cant choose think i have made my mind up on an IPS then someone posts about the 120Hz monitors.
I mainly game on my monitor and i am just about to buy a GTX580,so ideally i suppose i should choose the 120Hz monitors but i keep coming back to the Dell 24 inch, its hurting my head..

Which one did you get?

For gaming yes!

120Hz TN is far better than IPS for gaming.

I mean. When you play you dont really care if the colors are 100 percent accurate or not but the smoothness is something thats really improve the gamefeeling.

I think people must start to understand that a 60 Hz monitors aint suitable for gaming no matter if it is TN, IPS or PVA.

120Hz is simply the way to go.

Its mint, would never go back to 60Hz now.

exactly!

I have the BENQ XL2410T 120Hz monitor and i will say compared to the IPS dell ultrasharp the normal internet and desktop was NOT as bright and vibrant BUT........ GAMING WOW WOW WOW and in 3D with the 3D vision is absolutly amazing then i got a few films one being despicable me and another being Avatar and i wish ALL my films were in 3D as its absolutly BRILLIANT

go for the 120hz monitor then get 3d you will love your games then and never want to go back ,, Crysis 2 and Mafia 2 is awsome in 3d,

I remember going from my 85hz CRT to my TN I could really notice the drop in speed, but after a while it's not so noticeable.

Id definitely like to try a 120hz but the image quality is a concern for me.

If you want Office / internet use only then an IPS panel for sure but if you watch films and game a lot then the 120hz is what you want

A lot of people suffering from the placebo affect in here...

I had GTX470 SLI with a 2233RZ, so I do know what it feels like, but I wouldn't put 120Hz over a good IPS again. The colour quality improvement is far more noticeable than more frames, which the eye doesn't tend to notice.

Also, screen tearing is a non-issue. V-Sync is much worse.

Placebo affect?

It's not noticing the more frames, becuase yes you can't really when you get over the 60 mark. But you can sure can notice the smoother transition at the higher refresh rate.
