Hello

I now have some beer credits to spare for a new GFX card after my GTX295 died last week, my limit is £600. If any of you would be kind enough to give me some ideas as to what to get to replace my card that would be great.

My rig as it stands consists of:

Intel 920 @ 3.6

6GB RAM

750W Corsair PSU

Thanks in advance

Pair of 6970 in Crossfire or GTX570 SLI, or wait for 6990 with manufacturer custom cooler (as the reference cooler's is low quality, loud and suck at cooling).

I got an antec 9000 case i belive, it fits a 3870 and the gtx 295 with room to spare so i would assume it fits all cards. I can SLI on my mobo if needed, think the 2nd card would be close to the PSU though as the PSU is located at the bottom of the case instead of the top.

This probably the first time I hear people this issue with the reference GTX570...so the chances are it is just an unlucky one-off, rather than the well-known issue of GTX590 dying?

i've heard of a few going at hardly any volts at all, a couple of stock ones have gone and quite a few in the region of 1.038v - 1.066v

the lower end of that is stock on some of them

6990, 2x gigabyte 480 SOC or SE, 2 x 570, 2 x 695(7)0, 2 x 580 are all good options

I would go for the 2 x GB 480 SOC to get the best bang for the buck out of that lot

Do not get a 590, they can blow up at stock and do not overclock well with Nvidias latest fixes to the blowing up issue.

I need something that is going to last for a few years, i like to buy a top end upgrade every now and then as i go. Im not planning to upgrade from this for quite some time. Unless im forced to by something.
