Facebook - what do people check in to their houses for?

.kencs is replying to Kerplunk & iDroid84's post

Anyway, if I want to know where someone is, I will either ring them or text them and say 'where are you?'

If people were interested, they would ask...

FB Check in - Kerplunk has checked in at Heathrow Airport

FB Update - Kerplunk has missed the check in for his flight!

Never checked into 'home' and don't see the point of it, though have used it to check into some places before.

For all those saying its dangerous, just restrict who can view your profile, and then only people on your friends list can see it. If you're worried that it may be dangerous for those people to see it, you need to review your friends list!

This.

The only people on my friends list are people I know and trust to not break into my house and steal my stuff. My profile is set to private so only those on my friends list can see anything I write or my photos.

Can't see the appeal of using check in myself, the only people who need to know where I am will know, I don't honestly think anyone else would honestly be bothered.
