Grrrr, stupid executive cars.

The E65 730d does get pretty good mileage to be fair, for the money there isnt really a rival :) I guess he couldnt predict that it would be such a lemon.

And now hes looking at a Skoda? Oh well what do i know, good luck with the Skoda.

Most people i know that buy a big car for business they suffer the odd hiccup and move on, they dont buy one then have a few minor no cost problems then go, i know, i'l buy a Skoda. The time to think about warranty running out if you care about a warranty is before you buy it no?

Are Honda Legends any good?

Good cars in isolation, very quiet, quite good performance. Thirsty though from what I can recall off my uncles. Interior is decent in an (unsurprising) upgraded accord sense. Exterior is bland. What do these go for 2nd hand nowadays, guessing big depreciation for sure...?

oh totally agree :) The move i would do is change it for another one after its warranty cant be renewed any more, the e65s are very cheap now and bmw warranty is available for anything with under 100k on it.

Thats what i'd do, bite the bullet and buy a low miles car that he can get 2 years out of. Or save the money and just repair this as and when it goes wrong.

Nothing blows money like chopping and changing cars, forget repairs, forget depreciation, what on earth do you want to keep car dealers in cigars for.

Thats why ive kept my s-class for so long. Yes it springs the odd bill here and there, but changing it would chew up far more in depreciation. I found with mine that it went through a phase of lots of bills, but now its had virtually everything replaced it has been fine for ages. Its chugging through the miles merrily these days.

I guess what id actually do in Rilots situation is hammer the warranty for all i could before it runs out, then see how it goes with what i had.

Yea me too.

As for you your on a sticky wicket, you could spent 20k and it wont drive no better than what you got now, you will have to spend a lump to feel the benefit.

Thats the problem, only car i want is a W221 s-class i think. I tried an E65 at cooper in reading and to be honest apart from the computer related stuff which is obviously miles more up to date on the bmw, i really thought the old s-class is the better car. I think i am biassed though, i like mercs so it was never a fair fight.

I can get a w221 s500 for about £18-20k, but whats the point really? This one owes me nothing and i put 25k per year on it. i'll keel over soon probably as its going rusty now though :(

Its all down to money then, in your boat id have a plan but its not forum friendly :D

:(
**** it everyone hates me anyway.

I'd buy one, get it serviced, get my year out of it, correct the miles and jog it on :)

The thought has crossed my mind before, saves servicing it too much too. Not sure though, that plan would also work for a shiny low mile SL which ive wanted for a while too. :o

That plan would work for rilot too as the miles are an issue for him....

Yes, but you and me being proper people and upstanding members of the community would never recommend that to him :D

*looks around room shiftily* Might have to drop you a line if an SL or a 221 S does ever land on my drive :D

I might know a man that can sort you out and he might charge 300 quid but he does find all those pesky hidden memory locations :D

I wasn't expecting to be doing 30k miles per year. I was expecting to do my usual 10k but a change in job changed that.
If I had continued with 10k per year, I would be able to keep a warranty going. If I'd known the milage I would be doing I wouldn't have bought that particular 7 on the milage I did.

I don't call gearbox failures a minor problem either. Neither the "Engine Fault" light while doing 70 on the motorway.

Just the job

Once fixed though its unlikely to happen again, i went through a bad spell with my s-class, ride it through, hammer the warranty for as much as you can, then see how it goes rather than being hasty :)

But its a gearbox failure you aint paying for, thats one thing that wont be going wrong again too soon, all these problems are good while they are in warranty.

Yea, surely the more that goes wrong in warranty the better

Means you now have a car with a new gearbox?
