Unfortunately my fault, coming up to a junction, she started moving so I looked the other way to check for anything coming, turned to look back at the junction and she'd slammed her brakes on and went into the back of her

Going about 12-15mph but the damage to my car is a bit bad. Bonnet is creased a bit, headlight unit on the passenger side smashed in, passenger side panel before the door is a mess

One word......arse

She was really nice about it though to be fair, and I was a mess, my first accident and I couldn't believe it

My insurance is going to be a joke come renewal time. I'm stockpiling the lube as we speak

No point to this thread other than to moan and vent. "To the internets" and all that

Sorry to hear that. The exact same happened to me a couple of years ago, fortunately was in a company car on company insurance so didn't affect me financially. Easily done though.

Been there, done that. The woman in front of me stalled, 7-8mph was enough to write off my car, mainly due to age.

Sucks, but at least you're taking it on the chin I guess! Not much consolation I'm afraid.

I think you''ll be suprised, my "fault" accident (pending resolution) and loss of 2 years ncb made my insurance go up ~10%, which isn't too bad really!

Been there done that

My car damage £210
Her car £2500
Personal Injury £6000

Hit her about 5mph if that doing the exact same thing except the road was perfectly clear and still cant fathom why she stopped. My fault all the same but hey ho.

Got out of car and asked her if she was ok. She asked if we should get the police and I replied I didnt think they woud come out unless there were injuries. Her reply was Well my backs sore. Cue pound signs flashing in her eyes.

Thanks guys, my poor car :( Only silver lining for all this is I was looking at getting the bonnet replaced due to stone chips and scratches. Guess this means it will get done anyway

If it only went up 10%, I'd be very happy indeed

Do you have to go through the insurance?

How much do you estimate the damage to be on both cars?

The insurance always get the money off you eventually, in the form of increased premiums for years (5 usually) afterwards.

Sorry to see that mate, get it out of your sight and in somewhere to get repaired, drive you mad looking at it.

it happens mate, unlucky.

It's a really common way to have an accident, a couple of friends have succumbed to the same fate. The problem being is that you are presuming the person in front is going and already planning your next move. I won't even look to the right on a roundabout, unless the person in front has fully moved clear.

I know :p, but £3k worth of repairs and I'm guessing about £500 to hers, means I'm not going to be buying any sports cars any time soon with insurance

Premium will be the same for a £50 claim on your history to a £5,000 claim on your history - a claim is a claim.

Do you have a heavy excess?

Been there mate, had the same thing happen to me. You'll never do it again mind you.

At least someone didn't go through a red light and blind side you, then claim you were the one who went through a red light.
