Aye, another one of THESE threads.
Anyway yeah, im currently running an i7 2600k at 4GHz (Turbo Oc) and its stable at 1.215 Vcore.

I currently have a Corsair A50 (Yeah yeah, it was only temp) and its Idling at 30*c but hits High 60's under load.

So, i was thinking of going overkill and going for a D14.

I have a Coolermaster CMII Advanced so it will fit, but im not sure about air flow.

So yeah, views?

If you can fit it in your case, it's still going to be a decent cooler for years yet. I love mine. (Need to update sig!)

Wish i had splashed out an extra 20 quid to get one instead of my akasa venom, not that there is anything really wrong with it ,but heard lots of good reviews regarding the d14.
I say go for it if u can get it in your case, should drop your temps significantly and would be suitable for any future builds.

Alright, thanks :D Passive cooling would work better than the A50.. Note to self - Expensive CPU Coolers are usually better, Read reviews etc.

Thanks guys, Much appreciated

On an AM3 board, the cooler points from east to west, this is the performance I am getting.
CPU: AMD 955 BE(C2)@ 3.92GHz 1.52V
Cooling: Noctua DH14 with Artic Silver 5
Even in this warmer weather I can’t get it to higher than 51 degrees at full load

Gigabyte GA-MA790FX-UD5P, 955 BE(C2)@ 3.92GHz 1.52V,Geil Value 4GB DDR3-1600,
ATI 5850 1GB(Crossfire), CM90 II Advanced, 1TB Western Digital Caviar Black, 4 HDDs,
XFX 850W BE, Asus Xonar Essence STX, Pinnacle PCTV 3010iX Dual Analogue + DVB-T.

I have one of these cooling an ES X9750 quad core E0 at 4.2GHz and in LinX the highest it gets to ever is 67C. Prime95 is naturally considerably cooler.

It's a mammoth cooler so make sure it fits your care/motherboard and RAM (if your RAM has high profile heatsinks aka GSkill RipJaws). It not only cools great but the build quality and mounting mechanism is A1.

Expensive but worth it hands down I reckon.

I'd agree with that. I've got G.Skill Ripjaws fitted under mine, they fit fine if you move the front fan up a few mm. It will differ on different boards though. AM3 boards tend to have the RAM pretty close to the CPU socket, so Intel boards may be more accommodating.

There are actually few cases that the NH-D14 won't fit into. It's as tall as most other higher end air coolers at 160mm and I expect most good cases will take that into account. The one thing to worry about most if memory clearance but the NH-D14 is flexible in that regards and can accommodate some tall modules by simply shifting the front fan up.

whats wrong with the a50, i get amazing temps with it XD

Absolutely love my D14. Can't recommend it enough. Plus their customer service is excellent (up there Logitech in my books).
