Hi Everyone,

I remember way back in 2000 I was very into Modding for Doom and playing one custom Map file called NIN. Although they were only MIDI files built in, I still replayed a particular Map all because of It's Music.

Only a couple of days ago I listened to Nine Inch Nails and rediscovered the track called "Something I Can Never Have" along with it's haunting Piano intro and a whole bunch of other Nine Inch Nails music and all because a Work Colleague mentioned them!

Anyone else recently rediscovered a Band or Artist, perhaps completely by accident?

Manics. Used to listen to them years ago and eventually just moved on to other stuff until recently when the album 'This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours' came up on shuffle.

Love the ending of that.

Recently I've been listening to stuff from 1996, such a good year for music. Top quality albums from Aphex Twin, Orbital, Leftfield, Underworld and the Prodigy made for one of the best years for music I can remember...
Frank Zappa.....majority of his stuff is unlistenable but there are some absolute classics in there

He was a genius, Joe's Garage was simply awesome.

Super Furry Animals...loved them in the 90's then sort of explored other musical avenues but have gone back through some of their older albums and it dawned on me...they've been the most inventive british music act of the last 20 years. They're kind of like a 21st century Kinks, if the Kinks were welsh and took lots of magic mushrooms.

I've always loved BFF, but recently went through a real renaissance and relistened to all their albums again. I really feel like these guys are still underrated for how good they are.

Ive rediscovered Jimmy Eat World lately. Used to listen to them loads back when my skateboard was the most important thing I owned.

Their album Futures is probably one of the best albums Ive ever heard.

Bah, I've got to make do with the plain old stereo versions... ;)

I didn't even know they made quadraphonic recordings all those years ago, it's nice to see even people behind the scenes weren't afraid to experiment with things other than stereo decades before 5.1 became mainstream, I'll have to check them out if I can I'm a bit of an audio nerd! :o

Apostrophe and Overnite Sensation are also great albums, I really like that song called St Alfonzo's pancake breakfast, where I stole the margarine... :D

Sick Puppies.

I'd heard of them but their name sounded so ridiculous I never really made any attempt to listen to their stuff. Then a competition came about to win their tickets to a gig and I won them, finally youtubed them and liked what I heard, got their new album and loved it. Weirdly enough I then heard them on Radio 2 of all places (they have a very mellow song on their album). Anyway, went to the gig, loved it and got their older stuff too.

For anyone who's interested, they're a rock band, sound like Theory of a Deadman, Seether, Cold, those kind of bands.

i was watching bbc3 the other night and there was a james taylor one man band showing and hen after james taylor and carole king! it was the best 3 hours ive had in a long time

There was loads of Quad stuff being released in the 1970's. To find out more a good site is :

Lots of conversions from Quad tape or LP have been made to .wav files, playable in surround on a PS3 for example. A great DVD-A of Zappa's is :

Definetely worth buying. Plays on a normal DVD player in DTS as well
