Hey guys,

Thinking of selling my HD6950 2GB and getting a Nvidia GTX 560TI 1GB or maybe the 2GB version instead,Ive had it with AMDs dodgy drivers not working right for BC2...ive tried all diffrent versions and still they play up.

Would it be much of a downgrade?

My res i game at is 1680x1050,although eventually i do plan to get a new 24" 1920x1080 monitor.

Power consumption is pretty much the only downfall for the 480 though is it not? So OP should deffo make sure his PSU is up to scratch.

I have a OCZ OCZ600MXSP 600W power supply,I should say its more than capable?

Currently with my system as it is ,my Zalman fan controller says my system is drawing 295W under gaming in BC2,Idle it draws 148W.

How much more power are we talking compared to a 6950?

btw rest of my system specs-

Core i7 860 @ 3.8Ghz
Prolimatech Megahalems Rev. B- 2x Yate Loons
Gigabyte GA-P55-US3L
4GB G-Skill Ripjaws 1600Mhz CL7(7-8-7-24)
XFX HD 6950 2GB GDDR5 (Shader Unlocked)
OCZ Vertex 2 60Gb SSD
WD Green 500GB Raid1 (Storage)
Seagate Barracuda 250GB (Games & Apps)
Asus Xonar D1 Sound Card
Killer Nic K1 Gamer Network Card
OCZ ModXStream pro 600W Modular
Coolermaster CM690 (Window Modded)
7 Home Premium X64,

Your PSU will be fine. just take into consideration that it may run hotter/louder than your current 6950.

My Gigabyte 560 GTX OC eats BC2 for breakfast, I had to VSYNC on to stop screen tearing until I get my new monitor, it runs flawlessly @ Max with 8xAA and 16AF @1680

At 1080P i'd imagine you would have to knock the AA a little

What's the problem in BC2?

Did you re-install os when you changed from nvidia to ati?

Have you uninstalled gpu drivers using driversweeper at all and have you removed 'shadow drivers'

The 480 uses double the amount of power than a 6950. In theory you would be looking at ~450w.

If you get a 480, then the gigabyte 480 se would be a better choice than the soc. Check through the soc thread for psu problems.

The problem is it keeps crashing and the sound loops,It only does this in BC2.
However i re-installed Ati 11.1 drivers this morning and have been able to play 3 full rounds without it crashing so fingers crossed it wont crash,Im just very dissapointed with AMDs drivers from 11.1 onwards. :(

I think il pass on the 480,From what ive been reading they are very power hungry, run very hot and loud...and for what a 10% increase?...not worth it i think.
il see how my 6950 goes.

Whilst the standard 480s do indeed run slightly warm, quite loud and are power hungry, the Gigabyte SE and SOC at least run a lot cooler and considerably quieter due to the custom heatsink and fan.

Personally not had any issues with my 6950. it flashed fine to unlock the shaders and overclocking it was good too.
