Hi all, my wife is due to go back to work in July after her maternity leave, however after working out nursery fees etc we are wondering if it would be better for her to stay at home and find some work that she can do whilst the little one is either asleep or in the evening whilst I'm back from work.

Does anyone have any ideas of things she could do to make a couple of hundred quid a month? Are there any companies that will take on people to do data inputting or similar from a home machine? She was working in admin previously but would be open to something different. Avon and the like won't be an option I don't think. Fire any suggestions at me and let me know if you are doing anything similar or your other half is?

Thanks for any help

just suck up the pain of child care costs and she can get a job she actually enjoys and can escape the house. this is viable just takes a lot of planning.

I was going to say childminder. If she's got your little one to look after, would she be up for looking after other people's as well?

My friend did it when her work wouldn't help her out and let her rearrange her hours after she had her baby.

Secretary/typist/PA to senior people.

A colleague's wife near Southampton works as a typist/scecretary for a doctor to some important people in London. When the doctor talk in appointments, they tend to record them and plan actions. She receives the recordings and types them up into records, letters etc. I don't know much more that that sadly.

Well, someone I know runs a little company basically being the online presence for a number of firms (i.e. keeping an eye on their twitter, keeping them linked and up the google ranks etc.) - how would that suit? Can't remember her website but she was looking for more bods a while ago...

..seems she's now looking for a job, guess it didn't take off. Shame!
