Can someone please explain WWE to me?

I reaally don't get the "omg its fake" arguments. Its a form of entertainment. Do you go to the Cinema to see a Movie and complain that the actors really didn't get punched in fight scenes?

Mind you, if you went to the cinema to see hours & hours & hours of men in tight pants wrestling with each other (ok, and the occasional token women! ;)), then..........

:p

Weren't all 80's action movies pretty much that? Stallone, Arnold, Van Damme all half naked with oil smeared all over their rippling muscles.

I mean, the scene in predator with Arnold arm wrestling is pretty much a muscle worship scene with the close up on his bicep. uh.

I'm getting hot now! :p:D

Now its for kids, I got into wrestling in 98 when it was adults. The stuff The Rock and Y2J would say to Steph was hilarious. Now we have fruity pebbles as an insult. :/

But insulting women, bleeding all over the place and giving birth to hands (Attitude Era check, check, check) don't make anything adult.

In a way they have had to come back from all the madness that they used to do. You can't keep topping yourself every week. At WM last week I was shocked when Undertaker took a chairshot to the head but that is a GOOD thing.

To paraphrase Jim Cornette, they used to pretend to hurt each other and the people thought they really did. Now they really do hurt each other and no-one believes them!

Reminds me of the glory days, listen to the crowd :)

Edit: in the entrance and around 20 mins in I mean

Small venue for a Wrestlemania! It's been over 10 years since I paid any attention to WWE, but I guess with MMA becoming a recognised sport and exploding and them buying out all their main competition, they were always going to have a tough time keeping it as popular as it once was. It was sort of like a real-life, slightly ridiculous beat 'em up, which was why I used to enjoy it, but it seemed to run out of ideas, they had too many crap performers, and I preferred seeing people lay into each other for real (UFC 1-5 on NTSC VHS lol).

"Entertainment" in its loosest sense. I see it as gay porn for those deeply set in their closets. Big sweaty men in kickers grappling each other and all that. :p
