costco is awsome!

If you know someone who already has a card then you can join them as a guest which is good as you can check out what they do and do not sell...

I've found they sell some stuff you never see in normal UK supermarkets, while there are other things that they do not sell at all, EG toothbrushes.

because one thing we need is 24 pack of toothbrushes :p

for people who buy meat from there and freeze it, what do u put it in?

i bought a big pack of chicken thighs and have wrapped them in cling film then foil.

The family been twice this week, spending around £150 in total.

Bought 2 hair driers, £10 cheaper then elsewhere each. So £20 saving.

One thing a lot of people say about Costco, and I agree 110%. Costco meat is fantastic!

Toothbrushes was only an example, my point was that it isn't a supermarket were you can get everything you need under 1 roof like Tesco for example, there are certain products which they don't do meaning you still have to shop elsewhere for certain items.

That said, what they do sell is usually good quality, including their own brand stuff. :)

I've wanted a membership for ages but I'm not self employed nor can I get one through work. Don't know anyone with a membership, either. Sucks.

In the sheffield one. The bread, some sweets and the drinks are cheap enough. Electricals and veg is no cheaper than the local supermarket. Its pretty good for stocking up on certian things (week/month of drinks, Pittas, coffee, seasoning, rice etc) but Makro seems to have a mugh larger veriety of things (purely down to being able to get a box of beef space raiders for about £3.50 or so). Its not bad but the veriety within the departments is a little small in some cases i.e. you can have this kettle or this other kettle - now choose.

I don't think they enforce the membership requirements anyway. If you turn up with the requisite ID (e.g. passport or driver's licence + confirmation of address such as utility bill) then I'm sure they'll just do you a membership. I've got a membership, as have all of my friends and none of us are self-employed or public sector workers etc.

Love Costco, especially the 18" pizza for £6.99 :D Last time I went was 11.09.2010, they rang the fire bell to initiate a one minute silence but they didn't tell the fire brigade before so they turned up 5 minutes later.

Costco is awesome, just be carefull as like people have said not everything is cheaper as some big supermarkets will sell it as a loss leader. good example was original source shower gel. Costco had a 6 pack for £8 which was a good deal until you see it in asdas for £1 a bottle. the meat and bakery products are superb though.

Maybe I'm being an idiot, but I dont get how this works. Why do you need to be a member to shop at their store? And why would they only allow a select group of people to be a member? Surely a shop would want anyone with cash to spend it on their products.

I love Costco! I've not been for years though :( Are the pizzas you get from the cafe still just as awesome and big?? I hope so!
Do you still need to be a business to become a member so you can shop there?

We do some shopping at BJ's. Anyone can join overhere and it cost $50 for the basic membership. I saved that with the car hire discounts and freebies you get with membership.

If your emailing him a way to become a member, want to email me? :) :D

trust me your details + local store. I work there xx

It's not a supermarket, it's a wholesalers - membership. The company makes 0% profit from sales as this balances the books so to speak, however membership fee - 100% profit.

Hope you don't mind but I've sent you mine by trust as well.

np.

Sidenote - you can enter without a membership, although you won't be able to buy anything. Go through to the membership desk(enter through the exit) and ask for a guest pass.

I never realised that's how Costco operated, quite an odd way to day it. I tihnk i may go soon as a guest just so i can get epic pizza :D

I love it when they do free samples :D Food, alcohol the lot.

Their cakes from the bakery are awesome too!

The amount of times i use to go with my dad (and take a friend) and just binge out on food and drink, it was awesome :D I remember once, a friend and i ate and drank so much that we were lying at the end of an isle propped up against a big shelf of soft stuff :D
