So I think the sub in my cinema has just blown, and not really sure why....
To make it short, I was watching an episode of top gear (as you do on a Sunday), when for no reason my subwoofer started to "rattle". I thought it strange and at first I just put it down to the episode of top gear having some funky bass channel.
However, it soon dawned on me that it was in fact the sub itself that had failed. I don't know a whole lot about sub's in general (just the major components, what they do etc etc) and as far as I can tell either the voice coil has burnt out or the spider has torn apart.
Now at this point I want to say, I NEVER push my speakers beyond a comfortable listening level (I have sensitive ears and can't stand loud sounds), and the fact it decided to develop this fault during a top gear episode confuses me. I was thinking it could have been a power surge, but the rest of the gear in the room has remained unaffected (TV, gaming rig, amps, speakers, xbox etc...)
I uploaded a video of this for another forum so I might as well post it up here too to so you can see the exact problem, any ideas on the exact cause would be very much appreciated (even some solutions).
