Hi All,

Odd issue.

I have a new Asus P8P67-M Pro MB and at random times i lose the power on USB ports. This knocks out my keyboard and mouse and I unplugging and replugging back in does not fix it.
I have to power off/reboot to fix and all comes back fine.

The machine is not underload while this happens so I doubt its lack of power issue and I also have a 910W PSU (bought for SLI but I am not running) so there should be plenty.

Anyone encountered this before?

Thanks

In Device Manager if you select your mouse and keyboard, right click and select properties, got to the power management tab and ensure "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" is not ticked.

You can do the same for the Universal Serial Bus Controllers.

Worth a try.

Thanks for the reply matey...
Yeah i did try that.. only thing that Google turned up for me actually.
Still the same problem :(

Any other thoughts anyone?

Does this happen while you're actually using the PC or after it's been sitting idle for a while.

If it happens while you're using it then it may be a hardware fault.

When it happens have you tried plugging the mouse/keyboard into different USB ports?

Its happend during a game and while it was sitting downloading an update.
Came back to it in that state.
Yeah I changed to another port and that was dead also.
Like the whole board loses power to USB's.

Not really.

I assume you installed the Intel chipset drivers.

Googling the issue usually end up with someone having a duff motherboard :(

Yeah thats what I am thinking also.
Its pretty odd and random.
I have dropped OC a line as its only about 1 week old so a swap of MB should not be a major problem one would hope.
Thanks for help though! :)

Anyone else with any suggestions other than faulty MB?

I have not sent the MB back yet as I was hoping that I may work out what was causing the issue. OC said that they will test and only refund if its Faulty. Only problem with this is that I need my MB for my machine so I am now thinking that I will buy the new one and ask them to test with exactly the same setup I have. Its not a true test if not.
I think its sound related as i have not played sound for around 4 days and everything has been fine. Anyone else having an issue?
