On way home from torquay yesterday, car over heated, pulled over, a pipe attached to a metal bracked had completely snapped off and where the hole was had lots and lots of steam coming out...

Ten hour journey home on back of recovery truck, we tried starting it and nothing happened :(

You guys have any idea what it is?

the thingymabob has split from the jiggysocket??

really tho, if your asking for help some more info would have been handy....

Well i dont really no or i wouldnt ask. It was on the top of the engine to the left of the vauxhall badge... the pipe looked like it led to a pump at the back of the engine bay

How long did it take from noticing that it was overheating to pulling over? Did you catch it straight away and turn the engine off?

Come on guys, it's obvious that the OP doesn't know a lot about cars, we can at least try to get a better picture of the situation.

Are they going to give you a quote before they start the work?

Thank you very much :)

It started as i arrived in Torquay for like two minutes. I had just driven 5 hours so thought nothing of it and the car was going to be sat for two days.

I reckon I did about ten miles before i pulled over on the journey back

edit: They will let me know costs first, luckily i live two doors from my best friends dads garage

Can you remember exactly what happened though? Did you notice steam coming out of the engine bay then pull over? Or did you notice the temp needle in the red then pulled over and saw steam when you looked under?

If you caught it early enough you might have been lucky and not warped anything so it might 'just' be the head gasket that has gone.
