Just had a quick game, beginning to understand how the game works and what to do a bit more so I feel I'm getting better and I'm definitely enjoying it more. :)

I'm wondering are there some tricks to not dying. I get killed constantly from guys I cant even see(I mean right in front of me, why is everyone a haxxor?).

Are people able to turn off the trees and bushes, and smoke and stuff? I know about the q button, but still how did they see me in the first place.

I'm loving it though, best audio, and just the chaos of war, you dont know whats going on.

It's been discussed at length, in order to gain every advantage 'people' lower their settings to the lowest possible so trees don't have branches/leaves, smoke does not register for them and they basically can see from one end of the map to the other. Not cheating per se but if they need every advantage then leave them to it and enjoy the game on the detail your PC can handle and enjoy the atmosphere and graphics. Those that turn the settings down to gain the advantage obviously can't compete on the same level as the vast majority of players that choose not to do so. I guess there is no solution other than if you suspect people of doing this just leave the server and find another game.

Be aware though that if you are actually spotted everyone on the map will turn and fire at you and you will probably die very quickly!

Yeah, I played this extensively on PS3, and have way more WTF moments on PC. I never felt like I was playing against cheaters on PS3, but all too often playing this on PC I feel like I am playing against people who are either lowering settings, as above, to gain an advantage, or who are simply cheating.

Yeah, I know there are vastly better players than me out there, but I know when I am playing a fair game or not.

This is one thing I love about playing MP on PS3. It's a level playing field, where cheating is far less likely.

The server should be able to track the players settings so you could get people on an even playing field. I guess its no bother(well it is), just need to be more careful, though some people are strange.

I like the spotting thing, I've noticed lots of players dont bother doing it, when I've got loads of points from just doing that.

It'd be kind of unfair on players that had to lower their settings due to having lower-end rigs though.

I run the game in low settings and it's definitely an advantage. Running even in medium would introduce annoying 'chug' at times whilst running at 3600x1920 though. There's another potential 'unfair advantage' - eyefinity.

Pointless and stupid, even playing games on CAL, TWL and Clan Base years ago I'd refuse to play the game at its lowestt settings possible it would be played at the highest my pc would handle.

If you going to play with such poor graphics to gain an advantage more fool you. I'd rather play blinged out and live with the occasional death.

Some of these idiots are running dual 580sli setups etc. also:confused: Just what's the point.

It'd only be the same as pings. Some servers, only allow players under a certain ping.

I think when visuals have a distinct gameplay effects like with the blizzards the smoke/dust and leaves? You should be able to at least, see those players that arent experiencing those things. Especially in a game like this where being seen, and not seen is one of the most important things.

I guess so, yeah. I don't think it'd be bad to be able to see if people are running in low modes/etc. Getting kicked for running in those low modes would be a bit of a minefield though. Personally I'd obviously change back if I had to... but if you're someone with a low power rig (for instance, I managed to get it playable on my laptop by running everything in lowest possible... but it only just manages 30 FPS) then it'd be a bit rubbish to not be allowed on some servers. Not the end of the world, I guess.

or you could just get over it.

I tend to agree with this idea more :p You're always going to have some kind of inequality in pc gaming. It's also pretty common practice for clans/etc in CSS(/etc) to have fairly conservative configs.

Just had an epic moment! And i actually cheered out loud (which i have never done on a game before).

A Hummer was speeding towards me and hit a mine infront about 100 yards away, it exploded into the air and carried on over the top of me in a ball of flames..... just superb! and the sounds crancked up with the 2.1's is superb.

I've done the same with an RPG; the exploding transports flipping over in the air is rather cool
